I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

I was finally able to get the guts to use mine today, and play a DVD. There were times I was extremely nervous that it will just break down on me. For instance, I wasn't quite sure if it would accept my disk after sliding it in, there were a couple of times the DVD program had froze, but it was for a short time (thankfully). I also left my laptop for awhile, and it fell into sleep mode. During this time I was so afraid that the SuperDrive would just stop working when I came back, but thankfully it still worked. And when I ejected my DVD, it came out without a problem! All I can say is how thankful, and lucky I am to have a wonderful working product. And to whomever gets this product, good luck!

i love it it works well but my worry is the cord will break because it doesn't seem to be made any different then iPhone/iPod char i love it it works well but my worry is the cord will break because it doesn't seem to be made any different then iPhone/iPod chargers and everything is wireless now so they should really make a bluetooth version that would be a big help. Also i think it should definitely be blu-ray.

I am very disappointed actually that is an understatement, I spent $79+ for a drive that isnt super it isnt even ordinary I have busted out my ol school omega CD writer now just cant waist time trying to just burn a disc Ridiculous. no drivers plugins or anything that I can find to resolve all new equipment no excuses shame it should be seamless I should be able to purchase this "SuperDrive" that is an apple product connect it to my "Macbook Air" which needless to say is by apple and burn from Itunes without any issues don't you think? just a thought also if you MBA doesn't come with a CD/DVD Drive that product particularly should be seamless.
