  • Everything you need in an optical drive.

Whether you’re at the office or on the road, you can play and burn both CDs and DVDs with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It’s perfect when you want to watch a DVD movie, install software, create backup discs, and more.

    Take it anywhere.

Only slightly bigger than a CD case, the Apple USB SuperDrive slips easily into your travel bag when you hit the road and takes up little space on your desk or tray table when you’re working.

You’ll never have to worry about lost cables with the Apple USB SuperDrive. It connects to your MacBook Pro with Retina display, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac mini with a single USB cable that’s built into the SuperDrive. I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

However, the eject button works maybe once every five times. I find myself having to hold it upside down and press to get the DVD to come out. There needs to be some sort of button on the side.

  • DO NOT BUY

Will not accept any DVD's, you have to push discs in yourself and there are no buttons - not to mention it's extremely overpriced. Will be returning it.

It will only switch between regions 5 times and then permanently stay on the 5th selected region. Totally useless for travelers and other people living, working, or studying abroad. At $80 a pop I would expect a more diverse and compatible product.

Though this is slightly more understandable given Apple's monopolistic tendencies, it's really annoying that this is only compatible with Apple products. Obviously doesn't work with a television or any other kind of laptop.

Lastly, it would be nice to have a longer cord.
