I tried For some reason, the burning speed is much faster on this SuperDrive than other standalone DVD drives you find on Amazon. I tried the Amazon Basic DVD drive, but the speed is so slow that I had to return it. The Apple USB SuperDrive doesn't have this problem, though.

Seriously. The retina display has a resolution of 2880 x 1800. I think it's time for 1080p viewability.

Although it s I recently bought this to install software on my new MacBook Pro with retina display and it does its job quite well. Although it still irks me that such a device is even necessary in this day and age. Sure improved portability is a nice feature but taking away the optical disk drive to do so seems silly. Overall no complaints, however.

Just I bought this super drive last August and used it to burn about 10 cd's. Put it away in my drawer and haven't used it since. Just pulled it out to burn cd's and it doesn't work. I plug it in to the back of the iMac and it just makes a clicking noise and won't even load a cd. This is the worst thing I have ever purchased.

DRIVE WORKED WELL for ripping 15 cd's to iTunes.
    Then the PROBLEMS STARTED.
Now if I put in a disk it spins, clunks and clunks then spits the disk back out.
NOW I UNDERSTAND why APPLE PUSHES the EXTENDED WARRANTY.
I have spent more than 6 hours on line with Apple Technical support. (They have been very professional, patient, and polite)
BUT obviously they don't read these reviews. (This is a bad product and Apple should be embarrassed to put their name on it.)
NOW I know why THEY REMOVED IT from the MAC MINI.
I'm taking it back to the Apple store tomorrow.
SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH a WINDOWS PRODUCT; At least in my experience they work past the warranty period.

didn't I bought my iMac in December 2014 and shortly thereafter bought the USB SuperDrive. I have been busy doing other things so
didn't try to use it until today. I plugged it in to the port on the back of my iMac then put in a photo cd. It accepted it, made a few noises for a few second and then automatically ejected it. So I tried a dvd and it also ejected right away.

It is a pretty simple program and there isn't much that I could do to mess it up. It is messing up all by itself.
