Features

The 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.

    Magnet not Strong Enough

    I have had all versions of MagSafe. The Original T, The L, and now MagSafe 2 with my MBP Retina display. I am a fan of the T design but the magnet holding it in is way to weak. I don't know if it is because its smaller profile, but I can barely touch my laptop without the thing falling out. It is becoming extremely annoying to the point where I might need to walk around with a brand new MBP with its power cord duct taped to it! I believe the magnets are in the systems itself but please Apple come out with a revised adapter with a second set of neodymium magnets in the charging tip to counter act the problem and grab the machine tighter. I'd rather it be bulkier and work properly. I understand the point that is supposed to break away, but not by a feather landing on it! We miss Steve Jobs. I hope this isn't the type of product glitches we will have to get accustomed to now. Apple is supposed to be Apple, This isn't Apple at all. …More

    Needs a new design.

    I have had 3 chargers like this one now and all have broken from the little wire that goes into the box part of the charger. Being that Apple is one of the most expensive and top producers for gadgets to get online you think they would make a better quality charger where the wire is more sturdy and holds up longer. I am very disappointed at the fact that this is the third charger I have bought and it keeps breaking in the same spot. I am very unhappy with it and the price to get a new one is absolutely ridiculous when I know that it will happen again. Either one make the tiny cord as durable as the thicker cord on the other end of the charger or make this charger cheaper because this is ridiculous that no matter what this faulty charger is going to keep breaking and I will have to get a new one at the high price of $80. …More

    I don't understand what folks are talking about regarding the magnet being too weak. Mine stays put quite perfectly and requires a pretty significant sideways twist to dislodge. Are people running down the street with these things? I am regularly on my MBP Pro Retina 15" with this charger in place up to 13 hours a day on my electrical engineering job. I've NEVER had the MagSafe dislodge unintentionally. The cables are also long enough to handle every situation I've encountered. Excellent product. …More
