Good, but What about MS2 to MS1?
This does what its supposed to I also need MS2 to MS1. I routinely carry around 2 macbooks we need the other way around also...

Works but easily detached
The converter works as advertised. It lets me use an existing power supply with my new MacBook Pro Retina.
The converter's m agnet attaches to the power supply's old MagSafe connector very effectively. The magnetic connection between the converter and the MacBook isn't as strong. The problem is that the old MagSafe adapter and the converter is now long enough that leverage makes it very easy to disconnect from the MacBook. Great way to extend the life of existing adapters
Does what it claims to. Small and unobtrusive, works great with the Thunderbolt display. I'd rather be able to swap cords, but th is is better than replacing the monitor!
As for the other reviewer complaining about having to replace his existing adaptors - that doesn't make sense. His existing adaptors work with his older machines, and with this they now work with his new machine. The only potential problem is if he is planning on a new location with only the new power adaptor... BEWARE! This is NOT supported!
I had an L connector for my previous MacBook Pro, which I gave to my wife when I got the MacBook Pro Retina. In order for us to sh are a charging space, we bought this adapter.
The "mag-safe" connector on this is no good and fails to disconnect. My puppy ran by and it failed to disconnect. The wire actually tore completely in two and my puppy was left with the cord wrapped up in her fur, limping away.
To add insult to injury (literally), the Apple Genius Bar says that I was not using the proper adapter since I was using an 85 W Adapter for the Power book with this adapter for the MacBook Pro Retina. They refused to support it and wants to charge me full price for a new one.

Doesn't work well - Retina?
I don't have an issue of losing it because this one stays stationary on my desk. But it doesn't seem to always work. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Many people have already pointed this out. I should've listened. Btw, I have a 15" Retina. Laptop is less than 5 months old and adapter is less than 3 months old. …

Falls off, gets lost
This works just fine so long as it is attached, but it falls off easily. I recommend taping it to your power adapter

Unless someone has actually tried it and has it working, I have plugged this MagSafe 2 converter int o my Apple Airline Adapter and plugged it in (even to the lighter in my car) and while the green light comes on and it looks like its giving power to the laptop, the laptop (in my case, a MBP 15 Retina) does not get power. My older MBP 13 got power (didn't charge the battery) but at least it got power. But the MBP 15 is not getting enough power from a car lighter or an airplane to even power the laptop, the laptop continues to run on battery. I'm now in search for a 3rd party solution. …

I am not a Genious Bar Apple employee but I do own a 13" MacBook Air, the 13" MacBook (Mid 2005), 15 inch MacBook Pro (Mid 2008), 13" Macbook Pro (Mid 2011) and two White mid 2006 MacBooks-- Just to name a few
The air requires 45 watts, MacBooks require 60, and the 15"/17" Pro's require 85 watts.
Summary:
45w Megsafe Air charger will only charge the Air although a higher watt charger will charge it as well
60 Watt Mega safe. Charger that comes with the all 13" MacBook's and Pros are as well as the air
Whilst the The 85 watt Megasafe charger is intended For Macs 15" & 17"; it is my charger of choice b/c it charges all Intell based Macs including the air …- Answered by Joseph A from Livonia

My advice would be to buy one of these due to the extreme difference in cost. Use one of your old ch argers plugged in to your desk at home (or wherever you normally charge at home) with this adapter.
Save your new adapter for "mobile" use... take it with you when you travel.
I have my old, original magsafe adapter that came with my Jan 2006 macbook pro plugged in at my desk at home. It's lasted so long simply because it stays in that one location and never moves. So leave your old charger at home with the magsafe adapter since the old one is more likely to fail if you continue to use/abuse it (simply because it's older). …- Answered by Steven E from Jericho
