Features

The 45-Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Redesigned specifically for MacBook Air, the adapter is the perfect traveling companion. It has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air with MagSafe Power Port.

Works Fine - BUT PRICE IS RIDICULOUS

    • Written by from PITTSFORD

I've got a MacBook Air 13" (2011) that I feel is the finest travel computer for a businessman ever invented. I love this little workhorse. Also, the power adapter on mine works just fine ... no problems. Instead of unplugging every time I hit the road, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a spare for my computer bag. Wrong!

$79.95? Is this someone's idea of a joke? Eighty bucks for a power adapter? Sure the cell phone manufacturers have run this scam for years, refusing to standardize on a plug configurations/power ratings so that the buyer is forced to buy yet another power adapter (I've got about twenty of them sitting in a drawer). But those pieces of junk are only $20 or $30. $80? For what?

I've got AppleCare, so I'll just keep on plugging in and unplugging the one adapter I have until it dies, then you can replace it for free. Really, you folks at Apple build the coolest stuff on earth, but you do need to re-think your policy of over-charging for the small stuff.

    4 months old, already failing!

    • Written by from Dickson

I'm a new Apple person, love the MacBook Air! But the power supply is already intermittent. It is under warranty, but they will not pay me for the half-day I will spend going to the Apple store to get something that should last longer than the computer! More

    Afraid to Move My Computer

I have only had my MacBook Pro for about 2 months, and my power cable is starting to fail. I can't move my computer or the connection is broken between my power cable and my computer. More

    Disappointed

After about a year of having a charger i found that the wire started to come loose by the adapter! It finally broke nearly setting on fire. I bought a new one and now the one i bought about 3 months ago is breaking. I am very disappointed. This product needs fixing and re-called. More

    Unacceptable

    • Written by from Pismo Beach

I can see that my adaptor cable is starting to fail as the light is now on intermittently when the cable is connected. It wouldn't be so bad if the cable was $25 but it is unacceptable at the asking price.

This will affect my decision to buy any Apple products in the future as the design for this core piece seems to be planned obsolescence.
