Product Information

  • The 45-Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Redesigned specifically for MacBook Air, the adapter is the perfect traveling companion. It has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air with MagSafe Power Port.

Knowing which specific Mac model you have is important. If you are running OS X Lion (10.7) or later go to the “” menu at the top left of your screen, choose “About this Mac” then click the “More Info...” button. Your Mac model and generation will be displayed.

If you are running an earlier version of OS X, you can enter your serial number here to find out which model you have.

I love this little w I've got a MacBook Air 13" (2011) that I feel is the finest travel computer for a businessman ever invented. I love this little workhorse. Also, the power adapter on mine works just fine ... no problems. Instead of unplugging every time I hit the road, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a spare for my computer bag. Wrong!

$79.95? Is this someone's idea of a joke? Eighty bucks for a power adapter? Sure the cell phone manufacturers have run this scam for years, refusing to standardize on a plug configurations/power ratings so that the buyer is forced to buy yet another power adapter (I've got about twenty of them sitting in a drawer). But those pieces of junk are only $20 or $30. $80? For what?

I've got AppleCare, so I'll just keep on plugging in and unplugging the one adapter I have until it dies, then you can replace it for free. Really, you folks at Apple build the coolest stuff on earth, but you do need to re-think your policy of over-charging for the small stuff.

It is under warranty, but they will not pay me for the half-day I will spend going to the Apple store to get something that should last longer than the computer!

It makes me sick every time I have I have lost track of how many of these I have had to replace in the 3 years I've owned my Mac. It makes me sick every time I have to pay $80 to replace a freaking spaghetti noodle that I know will break so soon. I don't even take my Mac around or ball the cable up. It frays so easily that I had it slip up under the leg of the coffee table and fray so much it was unusable. The extension end that comes with the charger is super thick ad I wish the rest of the charger had a little more heft to it so I wouldn't be replacing it constantly.

Have treated my charger very carefully. Have not wrapped it too tight and have always avoided putting stress on either end of it. Have treated my charger very carefully. Have not wrapped it too tight and have always avoided putting stress on either end of it. It's now failing at the power supply end around the grommet. My previous Macbook chargers (which are all several years older) have had no issues with the same degree of care given them. This is a shoddy product. Will not be buying an air again because of this.
