Just Right for me!

It's such a nice splash of color to my otherwise black phone (honestly wanted a white one). With the Zagg full body protection on the front and back of my phone and this bumper covering the edges it is a perfect match. I still get a perfect feel for the body of my phone and don't have the issues of the antena. I'd also like to add how great it is for charging. I can use any charger I have be it the one in the box, car charger, radio tuner, or my iHome alarm clock dock. I'm not sure why people are having issues with connecting chargers to theirs but I sure don't. It's really a great all around case just be sure to use a good screen protector and back glass protector like Zagg or something and your good to go! …

I love pink and it has two tones of pink. It's sort of a hard silicone covered by a hard plastic. I'm not convinced that it would protect my iphone 4 from severe falls, but the phone seems to be really solid in the first place. …

Very cheap case design with little protection and durability

Protection is limited to the antenna only. I bought two of these bumpers on iPhone 4 launch day and they both began to wear out within two months. At 29.99, these cases should not be a short-term disposable item. Both cases are now unusable with the rubber edges that line the case not ripped and torn. I am thankful that Apple reimbursed me for the cost of these cheap cases. …

Wouldn't use any other case!

But after speaking with the sales people at the When I first got my phone 2 years ago, I wanted one of those girly, pretty cases. But after speaking with the sales people at the Apple store, I decided that I would rather protect my phone than have it look pretty with a broken screen. One of the associates recommended the bumper to me as it isn't as bulky as cases like the the OtterBox, but protects the phone just as well. I was skeptical because it's just a rubber lining that goes around the phone but decided to try it.
I am now about to buy my third bumper and couldn't imagine using anything else. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY BUMPER! I've dropped my phone countless times (several times on to the concrete from at least 3ft above the ground) and my phone still looks as good as new. Granted, I never take the bumper off to actually inspect my phone, but the screen has never cracked, and it still runs just fine.
I recommend the case to EVERYONE AND ANYONE who's looking to protect their phone but doesn't want the bulk of those uber protective cases.
I will say that sometimes the rubber picks up ink off newspapers or dye from my clothing, but you can easily just wipe that off. The rubber is also awesome because it makes your phone stick to different surfaces. I put my phone on the dashboard of my car when I drive and it doesn't slide or fall off when I turn or accelerate, which is great. Being a student, it also clings nicely to my books when I carry them around.
This review is now way too long but I sincerely believe that everyone with an iPhone should have a bumper. I replace mine once a year as it does get some nicks and scratches from my constant dropping it on the floor, but the $29 for a new case is a lot less painful than whatever a new phone would cost.
Just an extra FYI: I do not use a screen protector on my phone and it doesn't have a single scratch …

updated from earlier version

Apple has updated the bumper to a harder plastic (although still pliable) and it slides everywhere.
for those who want something that offers the modest protection of a bumper, yet slides easily into a pocket - this is for you.
by my rating, you can see my expectation was consistent with the 'vintage' model ;) …
