When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.
Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.
This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.
Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple 60W MagSafe Power Adapter (for MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro)
New and Better than the Old MagSafe

I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple) …More

It will, but it is not recommended. The 15" and 17" MacBook Pro use an 85w adapter. This one is 60w, and while it will keep the power going to the MacBook Pro, it will not charge it while the computer is on due to lack of power. It will, however, charge it when the MacBook Pro is asleep or off.
The 85w adapter is the same price, so I recommend getting it instead of this one. …More- Answered by TM from Aiken
