Product Information

  • The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

  • Power adaptors do not last

Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past beca use they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

  • New and Better than the Old MagSafe

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feel s differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple)

  • WAY better than old design

    5.0 out of 5 stars

i just purchased this product bc my old power adapter broke. this new design prevents the cord from bending right at the magnet, w hich is how my old charger broke. since the cord comes out of the magnet parallel to the computer side, and not perpendicular like the old one, it can't bend and cause the wires to fray over time... like it so far!

  • Horrible, horrible, horrible

Looking for the 3rd replacement within two year. The cable to the Macbook tends to break at both ends. If Apple simply would build in plug in the adapter allowing to only swap the cord (similar as the power cord on the other end) you would only have to replace the cable instead (10 to 15 euros tops ) of the whole adapter (€ 80). Another option would be to put some more rubber around the cord so it does not break that easilly

Looking at the review on this site, Apple should be deeply ashamed that after year, they are still supplying this horrible adapter.

This is by far the worst product Apple makes and they haven't put in any attempt to correct it.

I've gone through three of these bad boys in the last 3 years. What really irks me though, is that the design hasn't changed. Rega rdless of this product barely getting over a 1 star, Apple hasn't listened to its customers. Basically, your charger will short out on you regardless of how you take care of it, so just expect to shell out a few hundred dollars on replacements over the lifespan of your computer. Very disappointed.

I am about to purchase my third power adaptor for my Macbook Pro. The laptop itself is less than three years old, and it's ridicul ous that I need to purchase a new cord once a year because it is so poorly designed. The first one shorted out and just died. The second one shorted out and burned through the cords - nearly severing the cord from the adaptor entirely (and causing a nasty electrical burning smell). Here's hoping the third one will last just a little longer.
