Product Information

  • The 60 Watt MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past beca Apple needs to rethink the design of the Magsafe power adaptors. I have bought replacement Magsafe Power adaptors in the past because they don't always last. Sometimes 1-2 years but this recent one only lasted 3 months. At $80 per adaptor this is ridiculous. Read online, many consumers have had the same issues.

I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though.

I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power ad I want to love you. I really, really do. You're making it difficult though.

I couldn't blame you when my old, T-style power adapter broke after a couple years. I was even excited when I saw the sleek, new, redesigned L-style. However, that one broke too- but this time, it was after only about two months. I tried not to take it out on you, and figured that maybe I got the one bad one in the batch, or that maybe I had been too rough with it. But here I am, typing away, pausing occasionally to wiggle the cord in order to get it to work again- for a few seconds at least. Yes, thats right, my SECOND L-style magsafe has broken, also after only a couple months.

Finally, I'm realizing that it's not me, it's YOU. And you just don't seem to realize that. I called Apple support only to be told that there are "no known issues" with the L-style magsafe adapter. Oh really? Dearest apple, do you ever read the reviews your products receive? Obviously there is a known issue, and its that this product simply doesn't work if you use it for more than a month!

I've enjoyed your sleek design and better usability, but honestly, I think I'm leaving you. For a PC.

  • New and Better than the Old MagSafe

I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feel I own the white 13" 2008 Macbook, and to answer your questions (if any), yes, it works with it. As for the MagSafe itself, it feels differently built (for the better), it doesn't nearly get as hot as the old MagSafe did (incredibly this one stays very cool, even on extended periods of time, although that could be because it's new.) Lastly, the actual connector is pretty innovative, feels much sturdier and less prone to fire/breaking/separation issues. It also wraps around a better/more effective contour. All in all, for $79 compared to $99, and the benefits i've named, it's a much better buy than the previous MagSafe (still overpriced, apple)

There should be free replacements offered for these adapters but I just went to the apple store and they said I shouldn't have wai There should be free replacements offered for these adapters but I just went to the apple store and they said I shouldn't have waited til the cable frayed to come in. NOBODY has time to be checking if their cord is intact every time they use their laptop. And quite frankly, the cord suddenly frayed one day without any provocation. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS

My sister has had her Macbook Pro since 2009. We love everything about it except for the charger. Together I would have to say that we have gone through at least 10 maybe even more chargers due to the fact that the wires come exposed constantly. We try to use them as long as possible, but once they start to spark, we are out. I don't understand.

Allow me join the ranks of those complaining about Apple going from a highly functional MagSafe Version1 to this charger. The magn Allow me join the ranks of those complaining about Apple going from a highly functional MagSafe Version1 to this charger. The magnetic part that connects to your computer constantly falls off. The plug that goes into the wall (at least when using the extension) randomly starts feeling neglected and refuses to charge your MacBook unless you give it some attention - in other words you have to wiggle the plug, switch outlets, unplug and plug back in, buy it dinner, etc. If you, like me, assume that simply plugging in both ends of the charger will result in charging, think again. You also need to ask very nicely, be patient, and catch the charger on a good day.

I'm not really writing this review to dissuade customers from buying the product, since you don't have any alternative. Hopefully though, our friends in Cupertino will notice that this charger is inundated with one-star reviews and perhaps something's wrong...
