The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

Laser tracking engine.

Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.

Bluetooth technology.

Magic Mouse works wirelessly with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac. When you combine it with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, the result is an untethered and uncluttered workspace. Once you pair Magic Mouse with your Mac, you can enjoy a secure and reliable connection from up to 33 feet away.

    Argh, so amazing, yet so unusable!

    I LOVE the multitouch features of this mouse, they're really amazing, and I love how this thing looks. But it's such a pain to use. The tracking is just horrible. There is way too much friction when you drag it around, which makes it very hard to be precise. The surface they used which makes contact with your mousepad is way too big and the material they used is not smooth enough to allow the mouse to move around smoothly. The next problem is the shape of the mouse, again Apple sacrificed comfort for style. The mouse looks amazing, but using it really hurts your wrists because you have nothing to rest them on. I really hope Apple makes a new version of this mouse and fixes these issues because it's otherwise an amazing mouse. …More

    I've used it for 6 months, since I got my iMac at work. It works great, easy to do fine detail work in PhotoShop and Illustrator. I use it every day and the batteries last 2 months. The secret to that is to buy name brand batteries. The off-brands last a week. …More

    Counter-Productive with a Superior Product

    As a Designer I use Adobe software throughout my work day. I find that the quality of the magic mouse is far superior than any other. My complaint lies with the trackpad multi-touch capability. Within Adobe software, as you graze your finger across the mouse it flings your workspace across the screen. I find that I am constantly having to reposition my work. I rely far too heavily on cmd+0 to re-center my work. Not to mention, as I attempt to duplicate objects or text boxes the screen zooms at random (by holding alt to select and drag – my finger changes position on the mouse). I refuse to purchase another Mighty Mouse as I have already gone through three of them, due to the trackball no longer working. This magic mouse has the capability to be the best, however, it causes frustrations at a level not previously experienced. What I mentioned above are only a couple issues related to using the mouse in a production environment. …More

    The iPad was not designed for, and is probably never going to support, mouse control.

    As an iPad developer, I can tell you that everything in iPad is completely built around touch control.
    Therefore, I think it is extremely unlikely that a mouse pointer will ever be supported. The only way that would happen would for specific Apps that could use a connected mouse - like drawing or other productivity applications, but never for the operating system or for the majority of Apps.

    I personally believe it is far more likely that some next generation iPad will support special styluses to use on the touch screen, to accomodate more accuracy and perhaps even pressure control.     …More

    Since the Magic Mouse knows when it is inactive and automatically reverts to a sort of "stand-by"mode , it conserves battery life and is, by Apple's standards, supposed to last 4 months like that. Your answer is no; although if your a paranoid-battery-life preserver like I am, I'd shut mine off every time:D …More
