Overview

icon-magicmouse-multitouch.jpg

The magic is in the Multi-Touch.

The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

icon-magicmouse-onebutton.jpg

One or two. Left or right.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

icon-magicmouse-lasertracking.jpg

Laser tracking engine.

Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.

icon-magicmouse-bluetooth.jpg

Bluetooth technology.

Magic Mouse works wirelessly with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac. When you combine it with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, the result is an untethered and uncluttered workspace. Once you pair Magic Mouse with your Mac, you can enjoy a secure and reliable connection from up to 33 feet away.

Apple has done it again! Simply put, this thing is amazing! Its unreal how elegant it looks on my desk, but what is trully remarkable, is just how intuitive it really is. The MT serface is so sensitive, it reacts so fluidly, you would almost think it is a true extension of you. More

I love that it is Bluetooth as well as its seamless compatibility with OSX Lion. The two finger swipe to switch between full screen apps is an awesome feature. Great scroll, no complaints! More

Argh, so amazing, yet so unusable!

I LOVE the multitouch features of this mouse, they're really amazing, and I love how this thing looks. But it's such a pain to use. The tracking is just horrible. There is way too much friction when you drag it around, which makes it very hard to be precise. The surface they used which makes contact with your mousepad is way too big and the material they used is not smooth enough to allow the mouse to move around smoothly. The next problem is the shape of the mouse, again Apple sacrificed comfort for style. The mouse looks amazing, but using it really hurts your wrists because you have nothing to rest them on. I really hope Apple makes a new version of this mouse and fixes these issues because it's otherwise an amazing mouse. More

    Less than I expected

Pleasing look and feel, and good idea, and slick design as most of Apple hardware. The main complaint I had is short battery life. I use this mouse at work for development and had to replace batteries almost every two weeks.
The bottom line, if you are for look, it is a good mouse. If you need to work and heavy use, for that price, there are a few equally good if not better options with less hassle, longer battery life, lighter, etc... Do research and try out a few for your particular use before you pay for this.

I have had NONE of the problems others have complained about. Bought my macbook pro and magic mouse about 3 weeks ago. Have used both a lot and I find that they work perfectly together. There are mouses that require additional set-up after installing and some of the non apple mouses will not allow me to use all of their functions as my computer is so new they havnt kept up. I have been computing with a mouse for 18 years and this magic mouse is by far the smoothest operating, sleekest looking and easy to use out out of the box as I have ever owned or used. Cannot speak to battery life yet but in 3 weeks of heavy use the battery is still testing as strong! $70 is a lot for a mouse but i don't regret spending the money 1 bit! Greatn mouse! More

Save the money and buy a good USB mouse. Just look on the forums and you will see this is a poorly designed mouse with many flaws. A mouse is one of those basic devices that must have complete durability and reliability. This mouse has none of them.

I'm surprise the Apple keeps peddling this "mouse trap."

  • Can I use my magic mouse with an iPad 2?

    Best Answer

No you cannot. This is because unlike a traditional computer, the iPad and other iOS devices (iPhones etc) do not have a cursor or pointer to select objects on the screen with - instead the finger is used. There is not, and probably will not be, an Apple pointing device for the iPad and other iOS devices in the future, however you can use the Apple Wireless keyboard with an iPad. More

    Best Answer

I have Apple Magic Mouse and Apple wireless Keyboard. The ipad was able to discover the keyboard but not the mouse. I tried to reboot both the mouse and the ipad but still not discoverable.

So, the answer is NO as of today. Maybe, there will be a new update soon that would make it work.
