Illogic more like it. Yes it works well but I don't enjoy using it at all.

Upfront, Logic Express does not include Main Stage (a program that allows one to preform live), soundtrack pro (a film mixing program (although, Express has some film mixing features) and compressor (to export your creations).
Logic Studio is equipped with the entire sound library (all jam packs, endless sound loops), more synth presents.
Logic Studio gives you the ability to sculpt synthesizers and other sounds, and allows audio rendering.
Logic Express allows stereo editing, Logic Studio allows surround sound mixing.
However, the program interface is nearly identical in both programs, and serves the same purposes. So it depends if you need all the added features. Both programs support endless audio plugins with audio units, etc. …More- Answered by AJ from Rathdrum

Hi!
Best solution is to connect with some FireWire Audio Interface:
Put microphones on their place, connect them to the mixer device, from mixer device go to some multiple channel FireWire audio interface, from FWAudioInterface go to FWinterface on your MAC. In Logic Express (or in garage band - you can try all this functionality without advanced editing, mixing and other things in Logic) open audio tracks one by one...
Yamxha N8 and N12 are digital mixers with FireWire inerface and are very nice litle mixers, woks very fine for me in garage band, tonight I will try it with Logic Express and you can mail me for details. …More- Answered by DS from Sarajevo

i have a drum machine (akai XR 20) is it possible to plug it into my mac mini with any sortof cable and record things from it to logic?

Answer
Yes it is. All you need is a Twin quarter inch Jack to single stereo mini jack cable and make sure you select line in in Logic as the interface, This assumes you have a Mac with a line in. If it's a 13" MBP or similar with a single headphone out then you'll need a USB interface beginning with something like the simple Griffin iMic.
