  • VERY Disappointing Battery Life

I thought I was getting a long life battery - don't they advertise 6-8 hrs? This one fully charged shows only 3:05 and in a real world test (six or seven programs open, no cd player use, playing iTunes and speakers only) I got only 2 hrs 30 min on the charge.

I've had my Macbook Pro for a little more than a year and having to replace my battery already. I have done the drain thing every month like clock work. Now I'm having to payout $130 bucks for a new one. Overpriced and not worth it if I didn't HAVE to have it.

  • Pricey, less powerful, but well made.

Let's be honest - $130 is a lot to pay for this battery, especially given Apple's tainted reputation with their notebook batteries . Still - the unibody MBP uses a 50 watt battery, whereas the previous gen had a 60 watt - and lab tests show the battery life in this model has declined. A single battery is not an option for power users.

This battery comes with an attatchable plastic cover. It's likely because the battery has two centimeter-wide jutting elements that could be easily broken off in a gear bag. I like this, though - because it will also stop dust from touching the metal contacts on the battery.

You pay to play when you go with an Apple notebook. It's expensive, and I don't expect to get more than two years of use from it - but it's still a solid piece of gear.

  • Horrible batteries

I bought my macbook pro 15" unibody in 2009, and I have gone through 2 apple batteries, and I now have to buy a third. Seems ridic ulous to me. My dell battery lasted over 3 years! I paid 3x the amount for this laptop, and they won't ever replace the batteries. So another $129? That's some expensive maintenance for a 2k laptop. Not happy.

The MacBook Pro batteries are atrocious! I shelled out over $2000 for my MacBook Pro in 2009. I should not have to shell out ano ther $130 for a battery in a years time. Or ever for that matter.

    Courtney,
I've been doing some research about this model number A1185, 10.8 volt. The battery you' re looking at is aluminum so it's the wrong battery. The battery that matches your model is listed by Apple as the MacBook Rechargeable Battery MA561LL/A (white) or (black). It retails for $116. I've notices you can buy much less expensive off brands but people often complain that they don't fit or match in color, also if you want a good battery you want to buy lithium polymer like Apple uses in all of their products.

This battery is for the 2008 aluminum MacBook. The battery you need is the white one for the polyca rbonate MacBooks.
