Overview

Now you'll never lose your work or miss the end of a DVD movie because your battery runs out at 35,000 feet. The MagSafe Airline Adapter will keep your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air juiced throughout your flight. Sleek and light, it works with in-seat DC power ports available on many commercial airliners — both EmPower ports and 20mm ports (using the included adapter). Check with your airline regarding availability of in-seat power ports.

Because it's a MagSafe adapter, you'll continue to enjoy MagSafe convenience just as you do at home or work. The magnetic DC plug ensures a tight connection and enables a clean break from the power port if there is undue tension — preventing your MacBook from being pulled off your tray table if someone accidentally trips over the cord.

Important notes:

  • Using the MagSafe Airline Adapter provides power for your computer but does not charge the battery.
  • The MagSafe Airline Adapter is not compatible with automobile power ports.

This adaptor is in two pieces...I just left one on the airplane in the plug. My last Mac airline adaptor was a solid one-piece anRead mored lasted for years. Since you cannot buy replacement pieces, I'm out $50. I'm not happy.

Medicore Design But Works as Advertised

The two part design is just plain silly. also i would have gladly taken on some extra bulk if they included a built in DC to AC poRead morewer adapter so i could actually charge your MB.
Also it is expensive, this should be $30 not $50. That much money for something with only one function is rediculous.

Bottom Line: Works great for its stated purpose but that purpose isnt great and you can get a cheaper adapter at any electronics store that will allow anything to be charged by it

My primary problem with this is that the two pieces at the end come apart very easily. I have not lost mine yet, but think that IRead more am at risk for losing it on a flight.

No flaws. All Flaws are USER RELATED!!

Wow. It works great. It comes with adapters for both kinds of power ports found on air planes. Watched DVDs and played games thRead moree whole cross country flight.

For those who claim that there are flaws because they left the 20mm adapter behind, it is not Apple's fault you are an idiot and did not check to make sure you had all parts before leaving the plane. If you left your power cord in a hotel, is that Apple's fault?? NO! Then why is it their fault if you lost the 20mm adapter tip?

Also for those who complain it does not charge WHO CARES??? Why are you using your battery on the plane if you can plug it in? If you walk on the plane with a full charge and plug it in on the plane for the full time you are using it, then you leave with a fully charged battery.

People, it is really simple: it is not Apple's fault you leave parts behind and it is not Apple's fault you are illiterate or you did not bother to read the instructions.

    Adapter use

Written by GM from Lake Forest

Great adapter! Users should be able to leave with all the parts they stated with, It's not Apples fault they forget part of it in Read morethe Power-Port. If it were welded together then I'm sure there would be like reviews griping about how it wasn't good for EmPower ports and they had to buy two. Proper techniques and responsibility go a long way to user satisfaction. If it were bullet proof, with every conceivable reinforcement, it would weigh a ton and cost 3 times the amount. It's great for what it is in the limitations of airlines power supply restrictions (they can't supply every seat with 500 watts of power). It's simple and takes up little room. Good job apple.

Does exactly as it says. It isn't Apple's fault if you don't check if you pulled the adapter out of the wall.
