Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter
With the MagSafe Airline Adapter, you'll never again worry about losing power while traveling. Just plug it into your airline seat power port and keep your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air computer powered up for the entire flight.

Now you'll never lose your work or miss the end of a DVD movie because your battery runs out at 35,000 feet. The MagSafe Airline Adapter will keep your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air juiced throughout your flight. Sleek and light, it works with in-seat DC power ports available on many commercial airliners — both EmPower ports and 20mm ports (using the included adapter). Check with your airline regarding availability of in-seat power ports.
Because it's a MagSafe adapter, you'll continue to enjoy MagSafe convenience just as you do at home or work. The magnetic DC plug ensures a tight connection and enables a clean break from the power port if there is undue tension — preventing your MacBook from being pulled off your tray table if someone accidentally trips over the cord.
Important notes:
- Using the MagSafe Airline Adapter provides power for your computer but does not charge the battery.
- The MagSafe Airline Adapter is not compatible with automobile power ports.

Does it charge an iPhone connected through MacBook Pro?
- Asked by Toshiaki M from La Jolla
- Oct 7, 2009
Best Answer
Short answer YES. I've just run a test, and the previous answer of "no, it charges from any power left in the MacBook battery" is incorrect. I'm running a MacBook Pro 13", MacBook battery at 99%, and it has charged my iPhone from 25% to 100% without affecting the MacBook (still at 99% charge). I notice the iPhone charging is slower than usual though. …More

Can I use a current adapter to charge my macbook air in germany?
- Asked by Richard H from San Antonio

Best Answer
Yes, but you must buy an adapter so you can plug the U.S. plug configuration into the German outlets. The MacBook and MacBook Pro operate on the 240-volt European power grid. Apple's conversion kit has multiple adapters for worldwide travel; you only need one of them for Germany and most of Europe (the U.K. is different). …More

Will this product work with all planes?
- Asked by Jake F from Kamuela
- Mar 15, 2012
Answer
No, it won't. It will work on any airplane equipped with 15v "empower" outlets, or on any airplane equipped with a cigarette lighter type outlet. Other airplanes have conventional AC outlets that you can plug the regular Mac power brick into.
I have a trip planned on United. The first leg will be on a 737, which has regular AC outlets at every seat. The second leg is on a 767 that has empower outlets as far back as row 23.
On the first leg I'll use my MacBook's regular MagSafe power adapter brick. On the second, I'll use the MagSafe Airline Adapter. …More- Answered by Robert B from Benicia

Would this adapter work equally well in an automobile?

It's designed for 15V DC that you find on airplanes. If you are the DIY type, you can make your own 15V DC automotive socket by using an automotive universal laptop supply to step up the car's 12V to 15V. …More
