- (1) The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
- (2) Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
- (3) Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

WOW! i just bought my airport express hotness at the apple store in cincinnati (best apple store in the world! - JD in the back is the MAN!). i hooked it up to my existing airport extreme network, and it was set up and connected in about 37 seconds. this thing rocks! i have my samsung laser printer hooked up to and my bose computer speakers connected in my room, and this thing works like a charm! go get one - you can use it as a charger for your iPod or iPhone too! the fact that they didn't raise the price makes it an even better deal. this thing is genius... …More

Great For Dorm Life!!
Written by PF from Evansville

Took it out of the box and set it up in less than 20mins. (Better than any linsys or cisco router I have ever set-up) I live in a dorm room...and I must say that it is perfect for dorm life. The 802.11n feature is awesome because I have a new macbook pro, and I am pretty much the only one that can connect to it and with the 802.11n/a I can get transfer rates up to 30MB/s over the wireless instead of using my schools wireless which is 300KB/s. Which is freaking amazing. Just all-around a good product so far. I never have to mess with it, and I never have to fix it. It simply just works, which is exactly what I was looking for. …More

Airport Express -Wireless without distress!
Written by JH from Colorado Springs

Im fairly new to the "orchard", but after YEARS of pain and frustration with a "budget router" by Zyair and throw in a PC....get the picture? Thus far my network has the strongest signal all over my house, IMac and MacBook Pro flawlessly sync over MobileMe and (GASP) my company- issued IBM Craptop actually functions better for working via the VPN. 5 minutes from box to full functionality. The ability to secure my wireless connection (Zyair didnt or I couldnt figure it out) was also easy. Really no desire to stream wireless music.....I just plug my Macbook Pro in to a port on my home audio......Who knows maybe sometime? The small footprint is also nice. The real added bonus is it made my HP all-in-one fax-printer-scanner fully functional wirelessly. I couldnt scan PERIOD before with wireless connection. …More

Yes...you can go into the settings for the AirPort Express and tell it how you want it to be used. You select 'Extend' and it's all setup. I just did it this weekend and it took all of 5 minutes from the time I opened the box. …More

Could I use this to connect my XBOX 360 to the internet via either RJ-45 or USB?

Best Answer
Yes, but only if the airport express is extending an existing airport network. In other words, if you already have an airport extreme, time capsule, or another airport express it is possible to do this. It's just, however, not the easiest or most reliable option in my opinion. …More

Can I use AirPort Express Base Station to connect to my existing home wi-fi network (USR Wireless Router) and share my HP LaserJet P1005 printer?
- Asked by CR from Kandana

Best Answer
Yes, as long as you know the credentials for joining a device to your current wireless network. You would setup the Airport Express to "Join Your Wireless Network" like a computer or laptop. You can then connect your printer to the USB port on the Airport Express making it available to any computers on the same network. (NOTE: the USB port on the Airport Express is not "hot-swappable" which means you should connect the printer first and then power on the Airport Express)
The only issues that can occur include the security on your current wireless network not allowing the Airport Express to join it correctly if at all. I recommend using WPA-PSK security with a password of 8 or more characters (required). Wireless networks that are set to use a 10-character or 5 character passwords are most-likely using the older WEP security which doesn't always work well with the newer hardware in the Airport products.
Hope this helps. …More- Answered by KR from Folsom
