  1. The AirPort Express Base Station is based on an IEEE 802.11n draft specification and is compatible with IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11b, and IEEE 802.11g.
  2. Based on a comparison with Apple's 802.11g products. Comparison assumes AirPort Express network with 802.11n-enabled computer. Speed and range will be less if an 802.11a/b/g product joins the network. Accessing the wireless network requires an AirPort- or AirPort Extreme-enabled computer or other Wi-Fi Certified 802.11a/b/g-enabled computer. Actual performance will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. Range will vary with site conditions.
  3. Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort Express.

WOW! i just bought my airport express hotness at the apple store in cincinnati (best apple store in the world! - JD in the back is the MAN!). i hooked it up to my existing airport extreme network, and it was set up and connected in about 37 seconds. this thing rocks! i have my samsung laser printer hooked up to and my bose computer speakers connected in my room, and this thing works like a charm! go get one - you can use it as a charger for your iPod or iPhone too! the fact that they didn't raise the price makes it an even better deal. this thing is genius... Playing music to my whole-house home stereo system, not connected to a TV

Success! After discussing my stereo project with an Apple person on the phone, I purchased their product, “Airport Express.” ($100) It actually can serve as a couple of different purposes – setting up a wireless network if you don’t have one, extending one you have one, or in its simplest form, stream music to your stereo wirelessly.
It took about 5 minutes to hook up and load the software. Now on the iPhones, iPad or iMac, when playing music on your iTunes list, there is a button in the lower right of these devices which gives you a speaker output option. So there are two – the device itself or “Airport Express”. Very cool. The Airport sits next to the stereo and has audio out into the RCA in on my amplifier/tuner. Now, I can go to the stereo, power it up, make sure the input is on the proper selector, set the volume to a reasonable amount, and walk away. Pick up my iPhone or iPad and select the iPod app which controls the iTunes music on the device. Select a song, artist, album, genre, playlist, etc. and press play. The Volume can also be controlled from the device so with the stereo knob set to a reasonable level, I can dial it back on the iPhone or turn it up louder.

Forget about music stream and the usb port

It is small, sexy and etc. You can easy setup your network where there is no wifi available, but forget about audio stream, JUST CAN`T HANDLE THE STREAM. Every time I have no audio because it`s out of buffer. Therefore, this p2 output should not exist. Really, I am very upset with that, it is not Apple style to sell things that don`t work with quality assurance.

Another thing is the USB, you can ONLY AND ONLY connect your printer. You can charge any device or use mass storage devices on it.

That is why I am giving two start for this product.

I will return it as soon as I can.

Although the capability is not available at this time, the iOS 4.2 Software Update for the iPad, among other features, will allow you to "[w]irelessly stream videos, music, and photos from iPad to the new Apple TV, and stream music to AirPlay speakers or receivers, including AirPort Express." This software update, according to Apple, should be released some time in November. More
