that the battery on my brand new macbook also died within 5 months of me buying the laptop. Now, I calibrated the thing just like the manual said, so no excuse there. And like everyone else, my battery died with no warning and no excuse. I think that when a company has this many people have the same complaint about a product, they should replace it or do a recall. And even if they don't read the reviews here, they know about it, as I know others have complained. I love my macbook, but it's battery is junk. Please, Apple, we would all appreciate some kind of response to this problem.

I bought a second one because I need it for long trips. I love it. BTW. If you need to replace your old one tehn call apple and te ll them that your battery isent working well. They will send you a free one but you have to send them your old one back or you will be charged.

  • Just as good in black....

    5.0 out of 5 stars

The black battery seems to work quite well. It is identical to the battery that comes with the black Macbook and seems to work ju st as well. Although not charged right out of the box, it takes a few hours of patience. By alternating the batteries, they last longer as well. Another Apple critique claimed that the batteries should be switched around every week. Seems to last around 2 to 3 hours. Maybe more depending upon your energy savings. I recommend this as quite essential.

  • 1500+ cycles

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I have 1520 cycles & 5+ years on my original battery, and it's now failing. I've considered replacing with another brand, but at less than 9 cents per day why mess with it? It'll be nice to get 3.5+ hours on a charge again

  • 1018 cycles

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I've had my macbook since 2008. The mac just started shutting down on it's own even when it was plugged into the power source. I c alled the apple store, even though it was out of warranty the guy still talked me through how to find out how many cycles it has been charged. It showed 1018 cycles-which it should really only get 500 cycles. I don't know...I think this is proof enough that these batteries/ computers are amazing. I would always unplug it when it's completely charged, I think that is what prolonged the life of the battery for the past 5 years...

Yes there is a difference between the two of them. It just has to do with they way the work and the life of the battery. However all you can get for the MacBook is the polymer battery. On mine I have had it over a year and I still get about 4 to 5 hours and I use it for internet and to take notes in college.

My cycle count was slightly above 350 when it began to tell me I should consider replacing it. It is now over 400 and telling me I should replace it soon. I intend to do so. I have a habit of letting it almost completely discharge before recharging it. I have had this unit for over 4 years and it has been my principal home computer.

In practice, this battery should give around four hours of continuous use with display set to minimu m, wifi and bluetooth on.
