    Cycle your Battery

If you follow the instuctions in the manual, and cycle your battery once a week. You can get about 4 to 5 hrs of battery life out of your mac book pro. i tried cycleing the battery and it really works and restores the batteries life. But the key is you have to do it once a week. More

Battery gets very, very hot, in my opinion, but great battery life so far

I think the battery life is pretty good on the MacBook Pro. I was on a three-hour flight the other day and my Mac battery died right before landing. Other PC users around me had to shut down because of battery issues 45 minutes before. After the flight, I actually had one business person ask me what kind of computer I have and questions about the battery b/c he couldn't believe it lasted so long.
However, in my opinion, this battery gets extremely hot and more so than any PC that I have worked on or the PowerBook I had until I upgraded to this one. So, be sure to wear pants or use a pillow if you're going to use your laptop in your lap!
The design is great for the MacBook Pro and so is the battery, I just wish they would've used a larger fan in the MacBook so it would keep this thing cool. I think it's more a flaw of the computer design and less of the battery, though.

    Terrible!!

I only gave this 1 star because you can;t give anything less.
My battery lasts for about 10 minutes.
The cycle count says: 96 And now I have a "Service Battery" message.
These batteries are complete garbage. Apple should give you 2 batteries when you buy a new laptop.

In less than three years I've had three batteries and am having to purchase my fourth. Why can't you make a "smart battery" that cycles itself and doesn't care if it's plugged in or not. Life is too busy for this. More

Yes, folks...there is a known issue with MacBook Pro Batteries

Written by SD from Villa Rica

I am amazed with how many people have posted comments saying they don't know what's wrong with those of us who do have problems with our batteries - as if we have done something wrong. FOLKS! There is a KNOWN issue with these batteries. If you have not had issues, be thankful. I am a DJ and this sudden battery death has killed me a few times by the unexpected shut downs. I've been an apple owner for at least 30 yrs, and they DO NEED to reopen the battery exchange. A defect is a defect, and I don't appreciate having to continue to pay for it. The battery is awful! • is this the A1175?

The 1175 fit the 15", so select the 15" size for the newer MA458LL/A and you'll be good. And be sure to download the battery firmware updates for your particular laptop model, if you haven't. You can do that before you install the new battery. I'd add the links to the pages here on apple's support sites that discusses those updates but apple won't let me do that within these answers. Just google "EFI and SMC firmware updates for Intel-based Macs" and you'll find them. More

As I recently found out, yes indeed it does. I have been leaving my MBP power adapter/charger cord connected for extended periods of time, and just last week when going through the new system pref's of Snow Leopard I say a triangle with an ! inside it in the energy saver/ battery pref's. I asked a friend that works at the local Apple store about it, and his words were "Dude, you killed your battery". I now get at most an hour before the battery low warning pops up.

And all along I have been doing the battery cycling on a monthly basis.

    Bummer Man!

  • What is the warranty on a replacement battery?

"Your one-year warranty includes replacement coverage for a defective battery. You can extend your replacement coverage for a defective battery to three years from the date of your notebook purchase with the AppleCare Protection Plan. However, the AppleCare Protection Plan for notebook computers does not cover batteries that have failed or are exhibiting diminished capacity except when the failure or diminished capacity is the result of a manufacturing defect. Apple offers a battery replacement service for MacBook Air and all MacBook Pro notebooks with built-in batteries. You can purchase replacement batteries for late models of Apple notebooks directly from the Apple Store." More
