Battery gets very, very hot, in my opinion, but great battery life so far
I think the battery life is pretty good on the MacBook Pro. I was on a three-hour flight the other day and my Mac battery died rig I think the battery life is pretty good on the MacBook Pro. I was on a three-hour flight the other day and my Mac battery died right before landing. Other PC users around me had to shut down because of battery issues 45 minutes before. After the flight, I actually had one business person ask me what kind of computer I have and questions about the battery b/c he couldn't believe it lasted so long.
However, in my opinion, this battery gets extremely hot and more so than any PC that I have worked on or the PowerBook I had until I upgraded to this one. So, be sure to wear pants or use a pillow if you're going to use your laptop in your lap!
The design is great for the MacBook Pro and so is the battery, I just wish they would've used a larger fan in the MacBook so it would keep this thing cool. I think it's more a flaw of the computer design and less of the battery, though. …

Just a little comparison info.

I do a lot of video editing etc with it, as well as games, etc. The reason I'm writing this is to give someone you an idea how how poorly/well you treated your computer, or to compare your battery life with mine.
After almost four years a consistent use, I'm at 752 cycles and a full charge is at 5449 mAh out of 5400. When I play games/edit, it's plugged in for hours. I've let it die from power countless times, and as I've read thats not good for the battery. Of course, after years of use the battery is bound to hold less of a charge, but I cringe at the thought of what some of you are doing with your computers.
I would go into detail of what you should do, but its common sense. I don't think Apple's complaining though, as they've made tons of money off a product that lasts if you use it right. …

It's OK, don't expect too much
I certainly don't get three hours out of a charge, but it's a lot better than the five minutes I was getting from my old battery.

You sure can! I don't recommend leaving it on the charger all the time though. Charge fully to 100 You sure can! I don't recommend leaving it on the charger all the time though. Charge fully to 100%, unplug and run it until about 10% and then repeat the charging process. This will help the battery have a longer life. I've left for retina Macbook Pro unplugged for a week while working on school assignments between work and home and the battery is still at 30%. …

Realistically this battery will last around 3 hours as long as there is not heavy usage of the CPU o Realistically this battery will last around 3 hours as long as there is not heavy usage of the CPU or GPU. So as long as you are doing basic things like e-mail, web surfing, etc you should get decent life out of it. Also turning down brightness, running only 1 program at a time, and turning off bluetooth will all help preserve battery life. Also running it in cycles and using a battery keeper program will help to extend the life. I am a photographer and if I am doing light photo editing I can pull 2-4 hours out of this battery as long as I adhere to the aforementioned guidelines. …
