The Cinema Display VESA Mount Adapter allows your Apple flat panel display (anodized aluminum) to be used with a variety of alternate mounting solutions such as wall mounts and zero footprint articulating arms based on the VESA flat panel mounting interface (FPMI). The new Apple flat panel family features a removable desktop stand. The Cinema Display VESA Mount Adapter Kit contains a tool that allows you to remove the desktop stand and to attach the VESA Mount Adapter to the display. The display is now ready to attach to any VESA compliant mounting solution that has a 100mm x 100 mm attachment.
The Apple flat panel display line (anodized aluminum) with the VESA mount adapter attached complies with the VESA MIS-D, 100, C version of the specification.

A very useful, necessary item if you plan on mounting the 24" iMac. DONT KID AROUND WITH THE TORX SCREWS, they are soft, torqued …Read moredown in the factory and easily stripped! Get a good driver with alot of leverage before attempting to turn these crews, under no circumstances use the tool in the kit.
I had to drill one out and I thought I was being careful. Why they didn't send a new set of screws with this kit is unexplainable. That being said, once on, it makes mounting a cinch.(63 of 67 people found this review useful)

can also confirm - rubber bumpers should be removed before you can attach this (at least to 20" cinema). after the procedure you m…Read moreay try to put one rubber back. there's no space for two.

It took two of us to mount the Atdec to the adapter and then to the wall.)

NOT something I need to go out and spend an additional $30 on. Especially since most other LCD monitors now have this feature built in already. I wouldn't want to ruin the esthetic, so I don't mind that it is a seperate piece, it just really should have been included.
