    Unaware of limitations before purchasing

I teach high school and thought the vga iPad dock connector would allow me to project everything I see while using the iPad, but alas there are severe limitations to which applications will show on the classroom LCD projector.
I wish I had known this before purchasing the connector. The Apple Store description says the connector will display slideshows and movies, but I didn't realize that was it...

Sending mine back because it doesn't enable mirroring.

Once again I get suckered into buying an overpriced iPhone or iPad AV connector because Apple cleverly omits the fact that it only works with certain apps. Don't they realize that people buy these accessories mostly to do demos of apps, or to mirror whatever's on their device's screen? This basic scenario does not work with this adapter. I found that it only works when playing video, or if you're a developer and you write special code in your app to support an external screen. So buyer beware... More

    Didn't work for me!

It's a good thing that I make a dry run before a presentation. I hooked up the conference room equipment to my iPad to show a bit of a Penn & Teller episode that I had BOUGHT, and to my delight I received an error message on the iPad that the adapter did not work with "protected movies". All I got on the big screen was a still image of the first frame. Another random TV show I tried worked as it should. So what bloody good is it anyway if the iPad is crippled like that? I can't count on using it in my presentations. More

I tried with all three devices - iPad2, iPhone4S, and iPod Touch - on the same projector and would only project from iPad2, which is awesome, but we have a lot more iPod touches on campus so I was hoping it could work on those, too. So that's why the rating of 3. More

    Not Exactly Love

I used the VGA adapter into my LCD with my iPad 1. Video games worked, photos worked, YouTube, videos all worked. However, I was not able to view a powerpoint presentation, spreadsheet or Word doc, through DocsToGo or Dropbox, which is why I wanted it. I dream of presenting to a client off my iPad rather than laptop, but it remains to be seen, no pun intended. So buyer beware depending on what you want to use it for. More
