  • Overview

    Fly and roll

Turn any place into a playground with Parrot's MiniDrone Rolling Spider robot. Simply connect it to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with Bluetooth Smart technology, then take control using the FreeFlight 3 app. You'll quickly have Rolling Spider weaving through the air and showing off its acrobatic moves.

    Amazing acrobatics

With a click of your finger, Rolling Spider flips 360 degrees and with a simple swipe it can turn 90 degrees and 180 degrees. Take advantage of pre-programmed acrobatic moves in FreeFlight 3 to keep everyone entertained.

    The agile, ultra-compact drone

Attach removable wheels to your Rolling Spider and get ready to roll it across the floor, up a wall, or across the ceiling. The sky's the limit.

    Take a photo

Every 16 milliseconds the vertical camera takes pictures of a set point on the ground. It then compares each photo to the previous one in order to determine Rolling Spider's speed.

I was so excited to get my Rolling Spider today. I opened the box, read the quick start guide and put it on the charger. That gave I was so excited to get my Rolling Spider today. I opened the box, read the quick start guide and put it on the charger. That gave me some time to install FreeFlight3, watch all four of the tips/tricks videos on YouTube and have a little dinner.

After the prescribed hour and a half I unplugged it, fired up the app and drove it down the hallway, tapped “Take off” and success it was in the air. We don't have a lot of space so my next move was to take it outside.

The first minute was awesome, flying around a few feet off the ground. The drone was very stable and responsive. I thought...let’s kick it up a notch and gain some altitude. I ascended a few more feet, flew around a bit more, still awesome.

Then all of the sudden, it shot rapidly straight up in the air. It didn’t responding to any of my commands. It was 30-40 feet up when I started hitting the "Emergency" button and still nothing.

We all watched as it “returned to the mother ship” (as my daughter put it) and disappeared into the clouds. I must admit I was (and still am) shocked, wondering what just happened? I realize I’d felt this feeling before when, as a child I accidently let go of my birthday balloon and watched in awe as it too disappeared into the sky.

We continued to watch anxiously for 15-20 minutes just in case it came falling back to earth. We then searched the neighborhood to no avail.

This certainly seems like a malfunction to me. I'm wondering if anyone else has had anything similar happen?

The drone took off like a rocket into the sky and nothing I tried mattered, hitting emergency button, landing button, nothing worked. The drone continued into the sky until it was no longer visible to the naked eye. It all happened so fast, I only had a chance to fly it 3 times since getting it the day before. I searched the neighborhood for couple hours to no avail, the drone went over 200 feet high and with a full battery could have flown a mile. Sad don't buy or at least don't take it outside, $100 dollars up in the sky somewhere.

Its a nice toy but you really can't trust on the altitude controls.. I was flying mine with a maximum altitude of 2 meters and all Its a nice toy but you really can't trust on the altitude controls.. I was flying mine with a maximum altitude of 2 meters and all of a sudden it went straight up to the sky (like more than a 100 meters cause it literally got lost in the sky!)... When the drone passed the 2 meter altitude limit I immediately pressed on the emergency button and nothing happened, I just couldn't do anything but to stare at how my drone elevated so high in to sky until it got lost!!! If you can't fix that then don't say that it's for outdoors cause that's what it says on the box (indoors and outdoors)!!
