I had been longing for a nice keyboard for a long time, however, & when logitech came out with the Ultrathin for the iPad Air, I decided to try it. I don't *love* how the back of my iPad Air is exposed, but after using the keyboard for just 3 days, I am ABSOLUTELY in love with it. It worked flawlessly out of the box with ZERO drama, and all of the hot keys work brilliantly. As for having the back of the iPad exposed, this keyboard makes getting Zagg's Invisible Shield for the back worth it for the protection.
In short, I'm super happy with it, and I'd recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a keyboard that doesn't want to ruin the form factor of their beautiful iPad Air. …

An Acceptable Keyboard, Finally!

I hesitated to buy it since I bought 3 different models when I bought my iPad Air on day 1. I tried the Zagg, Logitech and Belkin that were available on release day. Returned them all due to some issue with all of them. So for the past few months I decided that when I needed a keyboard I would just take my wireless iMac keyboard and keep the iPad in its Apple leather case. That worked well for a long time until I saw this solution. I was skeptical, but purchased it anyway today. It solves the problem of being poorly made and not tilting well. It has an ingenious tilt slot where you mount the iPad behind the keypad. It is exceptionally lightweight, too. The iPad does attach to the hidden magnetic flap that pops up as you push the edge of the iPad close to it. I would strongly caution agains thinking that this is a good case solution. It is not. I would suggest that if you use the keyboard attached to the iPad that you purchase a sleeve or carry it in your briefcase. I don't have confidence that the iPad will not slip out of the magnetic flap. I will use my leather apple case 90% of the time, but those business meetings or trips where I need a keyboard I will now use this great product solution. I would highly recommend purchasing it. It is well built and doesn't feel flimsy at all. …

Extremely disappointing revision of formerly awesome keyboard
This review pertains to the iPad Air 2 version of the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard.
Loved my old Ultrathin for my iPad Retina. This review pertains to the iPad Air 2 version of the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard.
Loved my old Ultrathin for my iPad Retina. However, the new version is awful and I’m returning it. The new cover has a hinge that folds into the keyboard & pops up as you slide the iPad back toward it (a nice touch). What isn't so nice is that the edge of the hinge is very sharp and extends way beyond the edge of the iPad itself. It makes it extremely uncomfortable to hold the closed iPad/keyboard along that edge as the hinge digs into your hand. The hinge also makes it impossible to put the iPad/keyboard down with the iPad facing down because it sticks out so much. Finally, I don't trust the ruggedness of the design. It feels flimsy and light and I worry that if I move the iPad back too far or if the edge snags on something, the hinge might snap off.
On the new keyboard, the stand is thick plastic groove on a hinge, rather than a built-in groove within the keyboard itself. This permits you to adjust the viewing angle. However, it makes it imperative that you remember push down the hinged groove BEFORE you try to close the keyboard and iPad. Otherwise, the sharp edge of the groove sticks up above the keyboard, preventing you from closing the iPad and keyboard flat AND digs the edge into the full length of the iPad screen.
An unnecessary and avoidable annoyance: the Lock Screen function key is directly above the Delete key. As a result, if your finger comes down just a bit too far up, you find yourself staring at a black iPad screen rather than the text you were trying to delete. …

Terrible with two major problems
I had the prior version of this keyboard and it was fantastic. But there are two major problems with this one. Firstly, the magn I had the prior version of this keyboard and it was fantastic. But there are two major problems with this one. Firstly, the magnetic strip at the back which is meant to pop up each time yyou move the ipad back so that they click together is unreliable so sometimes it opens and clicks on to the ipad and sometimes it doesn't. Secondly, when the ipad is in portrait mode, it sometimes falls backwards. I really don't like this design at all. …

The iPad did not reliably shut off when closed... couldn't trust it. It would wake me at night after I was sure it was shut off. I would wake up to a dead battery.
Finally I was laying it down on the deeply carpeted bedroom floor and it slid out of my hand a fell a grand total of no more than 6 inches and the top left corner of the plastic bracket holding the iPad broke. Now it was totally worthless instead marginally worthless. $100 down the tube... junk. …

However It will work with this keyboard but not ideal because the iPad air 2 is thinner (as noted by one of the answers below) the slot it fits into is made for the thicker IPad Air and therefore the IPad Air 2 sits at a steeper angle. So to summarize this will work but not ideal and the expectation is Logitech will release a new keyboard …
