I have gone with just about every type of merchant services out there and I have come full circle to Square. When I first started I have gone with just about every type of merchant services out there and I have come full circle to Square. When I first started there were some issues

Lack of phone support. Solved. I now have phone support during the day.
Limited funds paid monthly. Solved. Had the account expanded, no additional cost to me.
Sometime cards would not swipe. Solved. The new redesigned Square reader resolves that issue for me
Limited options for a Brick & Mortar location. Solved. There are options that allow for stands to use with an iPad and other POS options

Is Square the end all to be all? Nope. But they work very well of a lot of businesses and individuals especially if you are mobile like I am (Photographer). The rates seem high at first but when you go with the merchant services accounts that charge you monthly fees and handling charges and, and, and... Square's 2.75% ends up being cheaper unless you are exceeding $1500 a week or more. Then there is eh early cancelation fees on the other guys. No.

I tried GoPayment from Intuit but it works so well that as of Quickbooks 2015 they no longer talk to each other. I tried Merchant Service accounts, I (begrudgingly) tried PayPal, none are as good or better.

Is Square perfect, nope, hence only 4 stars (I would give 4.5 if I could), but they are the best game in town unless you are dealing in a ton of volume. If you are, then I've got a guy...
