Product Information

  • Overview

    BP monitoring made easy

The Withings Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor measures your systolic, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate and then transmits those results to the Health Mate app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Once it has that information, the app automatically compares the data to National Health Institute standards so you can better gauge the state of your health.

    Health Mate application

The free Health Mate application makes tracking easy by reminding you to take measurements and by providing useful information about blood pressure and hypertension. The app lets you measure your blood pressure in a single gesture, synchronizes it with your online account, and compares your results to the National Health Institute standards. It also allows quick sharing of data in Excel or CSV file format with your physician. In addition, Health Mate automatically graphs your readings to display blood pressure trends. The app even reminds you to never forget to take your blood pressure.

    Accurate tracking

FDA and medical CE approved, the Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor precisely monitors your blood pressure over time.

    Connectivity choices

The Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor can transmit measurements using its Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity or by a direct connection to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch using a standard USB cable.

The unit is sensitive to movement while in use so if you get aborted readings while using then you'll have to minimize movement.

A while ago I bought the smart body analyzer from Withings. It worked great. The fat mass percentage was always about 2% lower but overall it worked fine. So a few weeks later I bought this blood pressure monitor all because I trusted Withings brand. However, the blood pressure monitor's reading was constantly inaccurate. After a few days of measuring, it started to tell me "failed to measure." Sometimes I try five or six times and still couldn't get a measure. I immediately returned the monitor and bought another one from a real brand.

UNFORTUNATELY, the visualizations are poorly done - they should hook this up to the Apple Health app. A set of batteries lasts about a week AND the battery compartment door lasts about three battery changes. So, cannot recommend.

I have high blood pressure, and like a lot of people, I figured that buying this would be a great way to motivate me to check and I have high blood pressure, and like a lot of people, I figured that buying this would be a great way to motivate me to check and monitor my blood pressure more often. I also have the withings body analyzer which is why I was excited to try the bloor pressure monitor.

The first and main problem that I had was that I kept getting a failure message from the app. I would have to try at least 2-3 times for it to even give a reading. I've been told that you should wait a few minutes before checking your blood pressure again on the same arm, because the squeezing of the cuff from a previous attempt will give false readings for the next time. You're only supposed to put it on your left arm, so it failing means waiting a few minutes before attempting again.

My other huge problem with this device, especially compared to many other bluetooth health devices that I have used, is that you need your phone/iphone app on and running to use the device. In my opinion the reason that I would use a bluetooth monitoring device is so that I can use the device like any other, and the information syncs to my phone, without me having to do anything. Take the body analyzer, I can step on it and it gives me my weight, if I choose to stay on longer it also gives body fat, and my pulse. But I do not need to take out my iphone and have it on and running just to use the device. To use the blood pressure monitor, you have to pull out your phone and unlock it, then you can push the button on the blood pressure monitor to automatically load the app. (once my phone is in my hand and unlocked, it's not that big of an advantage to have the app open automatically). You cannot take your blood pressure without your phone. It is just as quick to use a regular one and type in the two numbers into the very useful app manually. It is also much cheaper to use a regular blood pressure monitor, and a regular one doesn't fail multiple times before yielding a result.

Easiest decision for a refund I have ever had for a working product...
