High quality, great protection; Perfect for gym or travel!

This is the review I wish someone had written before I bought the bag. Hopefully it is sufficient for someone as fastidious as I am.
Storage capacity: I purchased this to be both a gym bag and a travel bag. It easily carries everything I need for a trip to the gym (change of clothes, toiletry kit, towel, shoes, water bottle, etc.). I am somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to travel, so this also easily fits all my necessary travel items. I tested it out to see how much could fit, and here's what I came up with: I could fit around 6 shirts (t-shirts or polos), 2-3 pairs of jeans or shorts, my toiletry kit, charging cables, and I could also fit my MacBook and iPad in their respective compartments. In short, this bag could easily get me through a week of travel.
Design and Functionality: This is a sharp bag, and my opinion is that it is worth every penny. The inside is covered in Herschel's trademark red and white pinstripe design, which is classic and timeless. Inside there is a big mesh pocket (which is perfect for a MagSafe charger) and two smaller mesh pockets (perfect for iPhone(s), iPod(s), or charging cables and small power bricks. There is a laptop sleeve which will fit up to a 15" MacBook Pro inside a sleeve, as well as a tablet sleeve which will fit up to a full-sized iPad (Basically any iPad made thus far). Both are VERY roomy and feel rather luxurious. The outside fabric feels quite solid and seems like it could take a beating. There is a small pocket on the outside front of the bag which is the perfect size for a small paperback, phone, keys, e-reader, etc. The handles of the bag are big enough that you could slip them over your shoulder and carry the bag somewhat under your arm without it feeling awkward. The snaps on the sides allow the bag to take on a wider opening in order to insert wider/bigger items. The genuine leather zipper pulls are a nice accent, and the big, wide zipper seems quite durable.
Overall, this is a premium bag without the premium price. In a world where premium bags of this size usually cost upwards of $300, the Strand is budget-priced, but luxury quality. This is a worthwhile investment if you are looking for a duffle bag that will last a long time. …

Great Bag for School or Traveling
I bought this bag for school and I must say that it's an awesome bag. It's bigger than it appears in the pictures above. The bag q I bought this bag for school and I must say that it's an awesome bag. It's bigger than it appears in the pictures above. The bag quality is great. It fits my 15" Macbook Pro Retina Display perfectly snug, I don't worry about it moving around in the padded laptop pouch because it fits perfectly (I have a Speck Smartshell case on my MPR and there's no problems with it fitting in there). There is room for you to carry around text books or whatever paper work you have. If you have a lot of text books I don't think you could really fit it all in this bag and I can imagine it would be too heavy anyway. The only thing negative I could say about this bag is that it doesn't come with a crossbody strap so it starts to hurt my shoulder after a long time of carry it when I say a lot in it.
I recommend you get this bag, it's worth the price and it's a great way to have all your electronics in one place to carry around. …

I was expecting this bag to be small (not being to fit as much,) but I was surprised and HAPPY to see how much it can actually go inside. I love it! It goes on my shoulder perfectly, as well.
I have a '13 MacBook Pro, and I love that the slot is so smooth, so I don't have to worry about it getting scratched up with fabric. I'm able to fit in my notebooks for school and a textbook (don't think that that's all that fits because more is absolutely able to be put in the bag, that's just all I use it for.) …

Nice quality, a bit big
The bag is really nice, really protected, but it is a bit too big for me.
It is bigger then all other computer bags.

I got the Herschel strand plus duffel with the apple gift card that came with my computer and I am so in love with it. It easily fits my laptop, notebooks, lunch, and gym stuff. The shoulder straps are long enough, it’s really sturdy, there’s a little outside pocket for your cell phone, lots of little interior pockets, and it’s got both a laptop and iPad sleeve. It’s even been big enough for weekend trips. I really love this bag!!! …
