Advise against this drive
I bought at the Apple Store this drive to replace a dead external hard drive. I told the salesperson I connected by Thunderbolt and I had the cord at the house. All the box says is that the cord is not in the package and that a thunderbolt adapter is required. Well, it's hard to determine what you need from the website, there is no documentation in the package about what you need or where to get it, the Apple Store doesn't sell it (discovered on the second trip) and when you do finally track it down, it's expensive. Very. Unless you are connecting with a USB 3.0, I recommend steering clear of this drive. Three trips to the Apple Store, the last one to return the thing. They make is REALLY hard to figure out what you need and where to get it. And when you find it, it costs a lot. There are better options out there that are set up to take Thunderbolt without all the hassle. I feel personally this is quite devious on the part of Seagate and I personally will never buy anything from them for the rest of my life. …
