Anki DRIVE uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deliver the first video game in the real world. Each car has been engineered to think: It knows where it is, makes decisions, and drives itself. Using your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or iPad mini you can take control of a car to play against friends or AI cars. But watch your back. Anki DRIVE AI cars have been designed to take you out.
To experience Anki DRIVE each player must have an iPhone 4S or later, iPod touch (5th generation) or later, iPad 3 or later, or iPad mini or later.
- You can play Anki DRIVE against your friends, or against an AI-enabled opponent
- The AI cars own the road; they know your every move—and the more you drive, the more they evolve
- Similar to a video game, your character evolves over time. The more you race, the more points you earn, which you redeem to upgrade your cars' weapons and capabilities
- Up to four vehicles can play at once; you and friends use iOS devices to control one to four of the cars. AI controls any cars you don’t control.
- Anki DRIVE includes a physical track that rolls out to 3.5 by 8.5 feet and is intended for use indoors
- You can place the track on any flat surface, though flooring or a low-pile carpet works best
- Anki DRIVE is suitable for all ages capable of navigating an iOS device
- Additional cars available for separate purchase from Apple: Katal (Blue; part no. HD004); RHO (Red; part no. HD005)
Did you notice? The more you race, the more points you earn, which you redeem to upgrade your cars' weapons and capabilities.
Apple Recommends ForProve your skill using your iPhone and iPod touch to race your car against self-driving, AI-guided cars.

THE BATTLE BEGINS
(Purchase of the Anki Drive Starter Kit Required -- Contains 2 cars, Race Track, Fast Charger, Tire Cleaner)
Part racetrack. Part combat zone. All out speed. Anki DRIVE lets you battle friends and clash with cars that try to outsmart you. Simply pick a car, power up the app, engage your weapons, and race into battle.
The game consists of real cars that battle it out using a racetrack (hardware sold separately) as their arena. Each car is equipped with a unique arsenal of weapons, defenses, and skills. Like a video game, the more you play the more powerful your cars become. Points earned in battle can be spent, in app, for upgrades to weapons and powers.
This app is your key to Anki DRIVE. It puts you in command of your cars and gives you the tools to trick them out. To get in on the action players must have an iPhone 4S or newer, iPod touch (5th generation) or newer, iPad 3 or newer, or iPad mini or newer. The Anki Drive Starter Kit is available at anki.com, Apple.com®, and Apple® retail stores in the US and Canada. …

The way What a cool product and change of pace from the rest of the stuff that's out there. First of all, the packaging is great. The way everything is placed inside of the box is really impressive. Build quality of the mat, cars and charging stations is top-grade. It takes all of 5 minutes to setup and my Iphone found all of the cars right off the bat (I also purchased the other two expansion cars so I have all four). The makers put together a very simple and useful tutorial that demonstrates (while the cars are moving) how to operate everything. After that, myself and my three boys (ages 3, 5, and 8) were on our way to loads of fun. What I like most (so far) about the product is that kids can play for quite some time without having to stop and place a car back on the track when it falls off. The AI takes care of all of that. My 3 year old just likes to race around - shooting occasionally while the 5 and 8 year old battle it out. Putting everything away is very simple. Roll the mat up with the tube it comes with and then put the cars in there "parking garage" in the box. The cars are really cool too. Not flimsy matchbox toys at all. You can tell that a great deal of thought and time went into design and construction. I know this is not a $20 toy and what I spent was close to $400. But like I've always been told and have learned along the way in life...you get what you pay for and this thing is awesome! …

I honestly did not know what t At first, when Borris got up on stage at the Keynote and talked about his first product Anki Drive. I honestly did not know what that meant, how was this gonna help, what was this gonna do? Would this be fun? Would this hype run out after we played a few times. Well, friends, this is a keeper.
I play this all the time. I take it to parties and get the whole house watching as I show it off. This is something everyone is interested in when explained well. You need to understand what you are getting for $200. The ability you have and the inspiration it could spark. Imagine if your kid plays Anki Drive and decides he or she wants to be a software engineer and make Apps or products like this someday. Now, you have inspired them, and what that can do for them, let alone the WORLD is huge. There are so many more things to this product, to this company besides a vinyl mat, and fancy robot cars. They care about the customer, and they care about making a difference in the world. Anki Drive is just the beginning. I cannot wait to see whats next.
As always, I only recommend buying from an authorized seller such as Apple or Anki themselves to ensure you get the real thing and not some knock off from someone other than Anki. …

March 2014-Developers have apparently taken the money and run-

Looks pretty exciting at first start u Bought from the Apple store in Boulder , Colorado for grand kids for Christmas of 2013.
Looks pretty exciting at first start up of game.
We were Impressed as the tutorial on the downloaded iphone app sets up the cars and does a demonstration on the track of the cars and the "battle" game concept where the cars can shoot at and disable each other as part of the game.
The story of new start up of Carnegie Mellon Artificial Intellengence school students idea conceived in a coffee shop and $50 million in funding, coupled with an a product delivered to market sold only direct or from Apple stores gave their first product some serious credibility.
After running the cars around the track and enjoying the novelty, as soon as you want to change players, or try the
other car on your iphone, some of the shortcomings and incomplete aspects of the game/software start to become apparent. Of the three modes- practice, battle and race, only practice and battle are enabled. The "race" mode software or concept is listed as "coming". Getting the cars to talk to different iPhones with the apps installed becomes a real headache. Investigation reveals that once the cars are "initialized"', there is no such thing as resetting to factory defaults and getting the cars to work properly becomes more pain than any fun the game can provide.
The support , online FAQ's and answers to simple questions at that time were pretty much in a beta state not ready for prime time.
Understanding that this was a new innovative product probably rushed to market for the Christmas season, the promises online of "future updates", the buggy nature of the software and lack of online support, we decided not to return the game and wait for the developers to work out the issues with the first issue of the product. We optimistically bought two more cars and put the game on the shelf to patiently wait for the developers to catch up and work out issues that would accompany such a product after such a wide release.
It's now been four months since we shelved the game- we pulled it and the two new cars out this weekend.
We deleted the old app and downloaded it again and charged all the cars. It struck me strange that the charger provided for a game capable of four cars had only three micro/mini USB leads- Hopefully just another oversight that has been rectified in the latest version of the game ( I thought at the time).
Unfortunately, after a few glitches starting the game and getting the original two cars to work- we found the "race"
mode was still not available and no apparent way to add the two new cars to the game. We got on the support website
to find that most of the original inadequate posts and answers were unchanged and the most recent posts and answers were 5 months old. It appears that nearly no work or effort has been expended to resolve the issues with last years
Iteration of the game or to update the website.
I can only speculate on why such a potentially promising product was left in such an unfinished marginally useable manner, and wonder if Tim Cook of Apple , who gave his endorsement and distribution of the product, is aware of the products departure from Apples previous standard of quality for inclusion in their store offerings.
I would highly recommend against the purchase of the product. as your support may only extend the original
developers celebration of their perceived success somewhere on a sailboat in the Carribean and may extinguish any hope that the $ 350 early purchasers of the game spent will be not wasted.
