CAUTION: Not compatible with iPhone alarm!!

It en I was very disappointed after purchasing the DS1155 to find out that it does not work with the native alarm on the iPhone 5. It ends up playing both out of the iPhone 5 speakers and the dock and as there is a delay between the 2 you get this weird delayed crazy sound. The other outcome is no sound at all.
Philips knows about it too. You can see for yourself if you Google "ds1155 alarm audio comes out of both iphone speakers and dock speakers but desynced"
The non-compatibility issue should be mentioned in the product description on apple.com.
Otherwise, it does do a good of being a phone charger with a clock. …

Good as a speaker not so great as a clock

The volume from the speaker is always really nice, goes surprising loud and had a quality much better than some of the other cheaper docking systems that I have used in the past. The USB port in the back is a perfect addition as it allows me to charge my older 30 pin dock iPod whilst having my iPhone 5 in the dock itself charging them both (sometimes i charge my camera through the USB too). As for all this talk of alarms not working, they work fine for my iPhone, both the timer and alarms from the stock clock app play through the speaker just fine (as well as ring tones and other notifications). The main downfall of the dock is the clock it is far to dim to be seen in the day during a sunny day and there is no way to increase or dim its brightness. The LED light halo makes for a nice novelty as it is far to dim to use as a bed side light and often only stays on for a minute or two at most (though this can be dimmed). Missing an AUX input is disappointing and no bluetooth or radio capabilities does limit the device to straight lightning devices but its not too pricey so I can't expect it to have everything. Over all this is a nice dock for charging your phone of a night and having a louder alarm for when the volume of the iPhone speaker doesn't quite wake you up. …

Phillips DOck Studio App pretty useful
Allows you to set alarms within the dockstudio app. Also has a sleep timer, display location weather. Can fit phone while in case Allows you to set alarms within the dockstudio app. Also has a sleep timer, display location weather. Can fit phone while in case on the dock. Dock has a nice LED glow/night light adjustable brightness halo under base of station. App displays weather and either digital or analog clock (can also dim display brightness within the app)/ Can play audio from ipod music library, the 'tunein' radio fucntion from phillips app does not work as there is no radio tuner built into the dock. Weather is from accuweather.com.
Audio is decent, but the audo from the JBL one is a bit louder and crisper. Gets pretty decently loud, do not play at top volume unless you want to mess up the speaker!
Dock has buttons built into the wood for volume and halo brightness.
Handsome little device, obviously has a digital clock built into the base which syncs with the devices timer.
Has a built in extra usb port for charging an extra device (does not play music over the usb).
Ringer and iOS alarm play through the speakers.
Phillips dockstudio alarms obviously play through the speaker.
The reason I swapped the JBL one for the phillips (only two docks so far with lightning docks) is that the JBL would auto turn off to save power so after an hour the phone did not push any audio to the speakers.
Phillips works well for any lightning ipod or iphone, would likely work with an ipad.
The built in lightning adapter is adjustable and swivels front and back.
THere is a handsome glass support also built into the dock.
All in all a good product for fucntion. If you want to simply play music as loud as possible at the best quality get the JBL one micro (extra $10). If you want function get this dock.
Both docks are pretty sleek and modern looking. …

Marginal at best

It does not always sound the alarm - which is not good. You cannot rely on the Phillips alarm app, which also does not do internet radio as advertised, and the touch zones for the app "buttons" are tiny and you have to use the very, very, very, tip of your finger to use this stinky app. They have not updated the app in a looong time either. I would steer away. Better sound can be found elsewhere too. Minimal documentation with purchase rounds out the utter disappointment in this deal. …

Paying only for the look

I feel like I just payed for the look of the stereo. The sound quality isn't so GREAT. I tried messing around with the EQ settings on my iPhone but I noticed that its just the bass that doesn't sound so great on this stereo, sounds kind of like static. Beautiful little thing overall. …

Because I upgraded t Before purchasing this item, I had an iPhone 4S and the Stem Time Command mini docking station. I LOVED it. Because I upgraded to the iPhone 5S, I had to upgrade my dock. I went with this one, as it is the most comparable to the Stem dock. I was VERY disappointed to find that with the Apple case on my iPhone 5S (the leather case made by Apple), this dock doesn’t work; it does not allow the phone to completely connect to the Lightning Connector. In fact, the only way I could get it to completely connect was with NO case at all, by pushing the phone into the connector firmly. I am definitely a case person, so I am trying to figure out the best solution for this. But, sad that I can’t plug in my phone as-is! Once I did get it plugged in, I found the sound to be great quality, and unlike other reviews warned, the native alarm/clock App worked just fine on mine. Dock has some pretty cool under-lighting (but luckily you can turn it off). …
