Can't use with a case!

I used it briefly to listen to my audiobook on my iPhone 5 & enjoyed the sound quality. However, it’s not designed to be used with a case. I have a Noreve flip case (rail system) where the cover flips back behind the phone that allows full access to the phone’s speakers & lighting port. The phone within the case fits on the base, but leans far forward at an angle making it difficult to see & operate the phone. The mechanism that the lighting pin is connected to does move forward & backwards, which is why the phone & case leans forward. However, there isn’t enough space behind the lightening connector to allow a backward lean. (Look at the detailed picture on Apple’s site).
My husband’s iPhone 5 is in a “bumper” type case. This set up didn’t work at all. The JBL’s lighting connector it too short & didn't connect to the JBL's lighting pin.
JBL OnBeat Micro Speaker has a nice compact footprint, appears sturdy & well built. And from the brief time “listening” to my audiobook, the sound quality was great. I’m just not willing to remove my phone from its case each time to use it. …

I like it
Fit: I would have given it 5 stars if it fit better with larger cases. I have the InCase clear case (also sold here) and that fit Fit: I would have given it 5 stars if it fit better with larger cases. I have the InCase clear case (also sold here) and that fits with no issues. Cases with a thicker area around the lightning connector will not fit, as my other case (Incipio Stowaway) did not.
Sound: loud and clear on both AC and batteries. I like that the batteries are not rechargeable.
I wish it had a remote, and a carrying sac, even if it would cost a little more.
But at the end these are minor annoyances, I guess. The function and form are why I bought this, and I like it. …

Who wants to take case off!!??

I have a case that does not come You have to remove even a slim case to dock it every time, how annoying, then put case back on. I have a case that does not come off easy and this is huge pain in the neck. Obviously the engineers were fast asleep when designing this.
Extremely Poor design, they should send free extenders to everyone. Who cares about sound if convenience is terrible. …

I want to use the JBL speaker for presentations as I have with many other JBL generations. This one fits the iphone 5 BUT sometime I want to use the JBL speaker for presentations as I have with many other JBL generations. This one fits the iphone 5 BUT sometimes when I pause a song and want to go back and play a new one, often times I can't get it to play. Yes, sometimes I turn it back on and wait. It turns itself off. Is there any way to stop this thing from turning off. Then it forgets the volume so my perfectly edited sound bit is missed, and I am looking like a fool. Pushing, waiting, hoping. Too big. Plug way to big. A big disappointment. I wouldn't get this one. …

remarkable sound from such a small sound dock

But the portability is the bes I have run this only on battery power(4 AAA's) and am very happy with both the volume and fidelity. But the portability is the best feature for me. One thing I hadn't foreseen was the impossibility of connecting to the Lightning jack when using an iPod protective case.I had to remove the case to use the OnBeat Dock since the case partially interfered with the full connection. Getting that case off took some hand tools and a lot of patience. Some other cases may not present the same problem or be easily removed; but with the small dimensions of the connector even a case cover only 1/16th of an inch surrounding the lightning port lay be too much. …
