Absolutely wonderful sound!!
This is easily the best-sounding dock for my iPhone and iPod that I have heard, and I have heard several by other manufacturers th at are owned by friends/family. The music is full, rich and deep, no loss of highs or lows, and no "tinny" or mechanical aspect to the sound. Also, the ease of use along with the remote capabilities are exemplary, especially since my iPhone and iPod are both equipped with lightning connections; the remotes on other makers' products may not work well (if at all), even if using a pin-to-lightning adapter. Leave it to Bose to have the first lightning-equipped docks on the market. I am so happy with this Bose product that I have ordered another to keep in another area of the house. If you love music, why not use a product that makes your music sound wonderful?! Absolutely no complaints!! …

Surprisingly good
I have never been a big Bose fan, but I wanted a dock for my office so I could listen to Pandora, Songza, and iTunes. I've tried Bluetooth speakers (such as Jawbone) and have been underwhelmed by the sound quality. Ditto with some all-in-one systems from Polk and Creative.
So I reluctantly purchased this system and it actually sounds very good for what it is. This is not designed to drive a large room but it does offer very good sound for the money. Easy to use with the iPhone 5 and the included remote is a nice bonus. …- Written by David K from SHAKOPEE

Not Bad
Sound quality is consistent with other Bose docks. I listen to mostly heavy metal and if I had to nitpick I'd say that the bass is ever so slightly muffled and cymbals sound somewhat too tinny. Anything in the mid-range sounds great though. I'm still working on tweaking the EQ on my iPhone to see if I can get the sound exactly the way I want it.
The sound does fill a room quite nicely, and I can turn the volume up a bit and hear this thing almost anywhere in my house. My previous Klipsch dock sounded great up close, but volume seemed to diminish greatly once you started getting further away. Not so here. …- Written by James K from Springfield

great product with one major disadvantage for me :(
i just bought this dock a day ago with my first paycheck (i am 14) and i opened the box and realized that you have to have the doc k plugged into the mains for the dock to work :( which for me is a major bummer for me as i love to listen to music while moving around the house. I was also expecting a tad more bass from this dock but otherwise a great purchase. …

Outstanding Sound
Bose has done a excellent job at producing a compact, aesthetically pleasing sound system that produces superior sound for small t o medium spaces. Throw in a well designed remote and the addition of a Lightening connector it's a near-perfect package. The only thing missing is a Lightning connector capable of docking both an iPhone and an iPad. …

Will this system work with IPhone 4G?
- Asked by Kathleen L from Scottsdale
- Jan 18, 2013
Answer
The SoundDock III is specifically designed for and equipped with a lightning connector, such as foun d on the new iPhone 5 and iPod 7th generation, and this makes the remote control and charging capabilities work perfectly if you have the newest Apple products. You may find that although docking products made with a 30 pin connector will work with the newer Apple products (if you use the 30-pin-to-lightning adapter or an auxilliary cable), the remote controls for those docking products may not work to full capability (or at all). So, if you have Apple products equipped with the new lightning connector, this SoundDock III is great. I have two of these SoundDock III, use them with my iPhone 5 and iPod 7th gen, and I love them!! They're the best music dock I have heard, bar none!! …

Will my I pad work with Bose sound dock series 3.if so how do I connect to it
- Asked by David M
- Jan 17, 2013
Answer
If you have an iPad 4 (lightning connector), yes it works. However, you have to remove a small black cap (very easy, can be placed back afterwards) in order to fit it. The only thing is that the IR sensor is then positioned behind the iPad, so you can't use the remote then. I use my BT keyboard to solve this issue.
Note: I see that your model no. corresponds to an iPad 2, so for you iPad it is not possible to connect it. …- Answered by Dick & Monique I
