There is no loss of sound q I bought this so I could watch movies with my son on my iPad while traveling, and it works perfectly. There is no loss of sound quality regardless of the type of headphones plugged in. I have Bose Quietcomfort and my son has Dr. Dre Beats and neither of us could tell a difference in quality with or without the splitter. I had a cheap splitter from Radio Shack that really deteriorated the sound, so it's nice to now have a splitter that works well. It's somewhat flexible, which is good so it will bend if you accidentally hit it, as opposed to breaking the earphone jack.

This splitter does not do its job. I put it in my iPhone 5 and only one side of both earphones worked. After fiddling with it for This splitter does not do its job. I put it in my iPhone 5 and only one side of both earphones worked. After fiddling with it for a few minutes, sound started coming from both sides of both earphones. But slightest movement of the phone or the earphones would make it go back to not working. Not to mention the quality of sound dropped to like 70% when both of them worked, which was only 5% of the time.

I am returning it to Apple right away!
