Incredibly simple to setup with spectacular results.
Got this system for a small (about 12 x 12) home office. Have one bulb in the ceiling fan, one in a small lamp in the far corner o f the room and one in an accent light behind my laptop while on its stand. Setup couldn't be easier... insert the bulbs and turn them all on, plug the signal unit into one of the open ethernet ports on your base station (cable included) and connect the AC adapter. Start the app up and press the button on the signal unit and you're all set. Bulbs at their highest setting are brighter than expected though still not as bright as conventional bulbs but that's to be expected. Really phenomenal option for people who work from home and want total control over the brightness of multiple lights to optimize their screen work. Price may seem steep but it is what it is. Though once you install it and use it you'll think it's worth every penny. …

Great Product!
I read an article and decided to purchase this product over a much more expensive home lighting system. One day later....Extremely Happy! Product was very easy and simple to set up...in Fact my six year old did all of the connections and i downloaded the app. The light output is as good or better than your normal light bulb and the color combination you see and get its just makes it that much better. I installed one on my sons room and tried the gradually dimming feature and it worked on the first try. If you are considering spending over 4K on a full house lighting system....make sure you spend the $199 starter kit and you will be Happy you did. I will be ordering more bulbs as they become available to change the entire house to this new system. …

So Far So Good
Very cool product. App could use some tweaking to make it a bit easier to use as there was a bit of a learning curve. All in all , set up was very easy (less than 3 minutes). I have the starter pack and 2 additional bulbs. I'll be ordering 10 more today to set up more rooms. Groups are a bit of a pain to set up as you have to create a scene and from what I can figure out so far can only set up colors in a group from an existing photo. Colors can be adjusted on an individual light but won't save unless in a scene. Could be I need to spend even more time on the app. Fade function didn't work in my first few trials but again I expect this to be me just taking more time to figure everything out. I also haven't been able to get a group programmed on my iphone to appear on the home ipad for others to use. Not sure if there's a way but will be a pain to set them up on multiple devices. Only a 2 year warranty even though they say the light is good for 15. Having stated all the learning issues, it's a very cool product, easy to get started and in my opinion completely replaces a crestron type lighting system. It is expensive but much less than a home lighting system would be. I will continue to hopefully replace every bulb in the house as various sizes are hopefully released. …

I really want to like this product, but mixed feelings
Good: It gives you minute control over the color of the bulbs, which currently is priceless especially if you want to reproduce a n incandescent-like glow. PLUS, for when u get fancy, you can produce a rainbow of other colors. It is REALLY COOL to adjust the color of your room to whatever you're feeling!
Bad: Unfortunately, they are not made to sit on a dimmer switch, which is really sad because all I wanted to do was to set a couple color schemes, and use my dimmer switch to do everything else. Unfortunately, that is not possible. There is also a slight buzzing sound.
The ONLY way to dim the lights is through the app! Really inconvenient for anyone not holding your iPhone (namely everyone else!)
If they were to fix the dimming and the buzzing, I'd be sold. I wouldn't even fret about dropping $60 a bulb. …- Written by Phillip H from Dublin

Issues with setup
Had some trouble getting the hub to recognize some of the Hue bulbs. also, there is no way to remove a bulb from the hub in the AP P so if you want to remove a bulb from view, you have to completely start over from scratch and reset the hub so that was not thought out well as all programming of scenes are lost if you want to remove a single bulb from the system.
Also, out of the 12 bulbs I purchased, only 7 of them we successfully recognized by the hub. the other 6 I tried to add manually via serial number but that failed as well so I had to return those. Only 6 of 7 the hub recognized were controlled properly by the APP and the other one while it was showing up in the APP, I was unable to control it and as I mentioned above, I'm unable to remove it now without having to start over from scratch.
As I'm a lighting designer by trade and consider myself very technical, overall the system (once its working properly) is very cool but configuring it was not very flexible and needs a lot of improvement. …- Written by Shawn T from Boca Raton

Magic Aquarium
Gee whiz, but incredible.
The quality of the application and hardware is very high. The only "issue" we ever had was a loss of connection. The app told her to press the button -- she did -- and it was back in business. No brainer.
We use two bulbs over an aquarium and I have to say it is nothing short of magical. No heat, low energy and natural lighting for the fishies. When we're watching we can enhance the colors of the coral and plants, as well as two rather boring white Angel fish that are now chameleons.
If your rooms have white ceilings and light walls, you can create any atmosphere you want with no guessing. If your walls are painted colors, it takes more trial and error to get color/mood/experience you want. …- Written by Jack P from Fair Oaks Ranch
