Incredibly simple to setup with spectacular results.

    • Written by from Tempe

Got this system for a small (about 12 x 12) home office. Have one bulb in the ceiling fan, one in a small lamp in the far corner of the room and one in an accent light behind my laptop while on its stand. Setup couldn't be easier... insert the bulbs and turn them all on, plug the signal unit into one of the open ethernet ports on your base station (cable included) and connect the AC adapter. Start the app up and press the button on the signal unit and you're all set. Bulbs at their highest setting are brighter than expected though still not as bright as conventional bulbs but that's to be expected. Really phenomenal option for people who work from home and want total control over the brightness of multiple lights to optimize their screen work. Price may seem steep but it is what it is. Though once you install it and use it you'll think it's worth every penny. More

    So Far So Good

    • Written by from Cypress

Very cool product. App could use some tweaking to make it a bit easier to use as there was a bit of a learning curve. All in all, set up was very easy (less than 3 minutes). I have the starter pack and 2 additional bulbs. I'll be ordering 10 more today to set up more rooms. Groups are a bit of a pain to set up as you have to create a scene and from what I can figure out so far can only set up colors in a group from an existing photo. Colors can be adjusted on an individual light but won't save unless in a scene. Could be I need to spend even more time on the app. Fade function didn't work in my first few trials but again I expect this to be me just taking more time to figure everything out. I also haven't been able to get a group programmed on my iphone to appear on the home ipad for others to use. Not sure if there's a way but will be a pain to set them up on multiple devices. Only a 2 year warranty even though they say the light is good for 15. Having stated all the learning issues, it's a very cool product, easy to get started and in my opinion completely replaces a crestron type lighting system. It is expensive but much less than a home lighting system would be. I will continue to hopefully replace every bulb in the house as various sizes are hopefully released. More

    Great Product!

    • Written by from Miramar

I read an article and decided to purchase this product over a much more expensive home lighting system. One day later....Extremely Happy! Product was very easy and simple to set up...in Fact my six year old did all of the connections and i downloaded the app. The light output is as good or better than your normal light bulb and the color combination you see and get its just makes it that much better. I installed one on my sons room and tried the gradually dimming feature and it worked on the first try. If you are considering spending over 4K on a full house lighting system....make sure you spend the $199 starter kit and you will be Happy you did. I will be ordering more bulbs as they become available to change the entire house to this new system. More

    Magic Aquarium

    • Written by from Fair Oaks Ranch

    Gee whiz, but incredible.

The quality of the application and hardware is very high. The only "issue" we ever had was a loss of connection. The app told her to press the button -- she did -- and it was back in business. No brainer.

We use two bulbs over an aquarium and I have to say it is nothing short of magical. No heat, low energy and natural lighting for the fishies. When we're watching we can enhance the colors of the coral and plants, as well as two rather boring white Angel fish that are now chameleons.

If your rooms have white ceilings and light walls, you can create any atmosphere you want with no guessing. If your walls are painted colors, it takes more trial and error to get color/mood/experience you want.

    Watch out for this flaw

    • Written by from Mill Valley

the bulbs that come with the starter kit will only sync the the brain they came with. don't plan on running them with another brain. you have to buy individual bulbs to add any pieces to a set. most of the software is a little funky .. but there a few that are cool and have a future as great apps. I'm working on a couple of very cool mods to trip on.

    d

te system does rock. don't listen bad reviews. work around the current flaws and get ready for the future of controlled environments.

Great Lights - Horrendous App - Even Worse Support

    • Written by from ORLANDO

Lights do exactly as advertised. Multiple colors, brightness, etc. App only works at home, useless. Cannot program more than one day at time. When on vacation, lights go per program one day (presuming App works, which frequently does not). After first day, need to go online to turn on and off.

Now, online program is even worse than App. Can only turn all lights on or off, cannot select different lights to turn off or on at different time. All or nothing (even then lights don't work consistently).

So, when you travel, you have to keep track of time zone difference, remember that difference every day, and (every day) turn all of your lights on or off.

Best part, Phiilips really does not care. Absolutely no support, respond by cut and pasting FQA's to specific question. Answers have nothing to do with the questions. Useless would be a positive review of their support.

Bottom line, cable companies have better systems (maybe not cool lights) but they can do what Philips could not care less to even try to do. BTW, can buy color lights for a lot less and get a lot more support from cable and security companies than Philips.

We purchased 8 lights, they are all coming off line. Hate to see Mac sell and endorse such a bad product. If I could give negative stars, I would.
