Just what I wanted
I bought this case yesterday at local Apple store. It fits my needs as it provides a bit of a bumper-type grip on the sides of the phone and protects the back while maintaining the white, clean look. (I have a white phone.) Very easy to snap it on, and it looks durable. …

Audio port is too small
I bought this case at the local Apple store. It was easy to install and seems to protect fairly well, though I haven't really put that to the test. The main issue with this case is the size of the access holes. The mute switch is difficult (though not impossible) to operate for medium to large fingers. The headphone jack is useless for most standard stereo cables. Apple headphones work fine as the jacket around the plug is very narrow. However, I have yet to find a standard audio cable (for plugging into car, stereo, etc) that will push in far enough to work at all. …

Amazing Case
I love the exterior of the iPhone 5, but i needed something to protect it. I had gone through 2 cases already (mainly because of bad build quality) and I bought the speck. It is amazing, it looks stylish, feels great in hand, and best of all protects my phone. I would recommend this case to people who want a stylish iPhone case that protects your phone. It looks best on black iphones. …

Sleek, limited audio access, weak points in case
I wanted my white iPhone 5 to look case-less, and this one does the job: maintains the phone's slim profile, and the white/gray m ix blends with the phone. The rubber lining gives the front of the phone a buffer, so if it's face down, the screen itself still won't be touching the surface below.
Unfortunately the audio port hole isn't wide enough for almost anything other than the really slim Apple cord (default headphones,etc.). If you use third party headphones or other 1/8" cords to connect to stereos, etc., you will want to try your cord or simply move on to another case. I found a small extension cord as a work around.
Because of the audio hole, I have had several reasons to remove the phone from the case, which is rather difficult. After a couple of removals, I ended up breaking the case where the shell is really thin near the volume. The gray rubber lining that fills the gaps in the hard shell can take a beating and start to split if you remove the phone often.
If you don't rely on your phone for audio much (or only use smaller cords/USB) and don't need take it out of the case, this case will do what you need it to do. …- Written by James H from Fayetteville

Difficult to clean
This a great case overall. I do find that the ports get clogged with dust fairly quickly and its next to impossible to take the ph one out to clean. But I do enjoy the case and haven't found a better one while keeping the phone's slim profile. …

Great Case
Giving it a 4/5 because I question the durability of the rubber banding around the front of the phone - I put mine in a belt holst er and it's beginning to show wear. i would prefer no banding at all but still a very nice and durable case. Although it's plastic it doesn't feel slippery in your hand unlike others, and it doesn't feel big like the Incase brand. …

Sort of... It is held snugly in the case and to take the phone out of the case - the easiest way is to push your finger in the camera lens hole to prod the phone from the case. Once you have it partly out the rest of the way is easy. …

Answer
Having the same problem, SPECK candy shell on - wifi range significantly reduced, shell off, normal range resumes.
Im reading that there were at least two wifi chipsets designed for the iPhone 5, one from INTEL and one from APPLE itself. The later seems to be the problem child.
