Love This Case!
I love the look of my MacBook Pro so I didn't want to cover it up. This perfectly clear case allows my laptop to be out in the ope n in it's natural, perfect state, yet protected from cats and grandkids.
It was a snap to get on...literally; you just snap the two pieces in place.
I like that I can access all the ports with this cover on and the non-slip "feet" keep it in place when I use my lap desk.
Speck recommends you remove the case monthly and wipe down the pc in case any dust gets in-between the laptop and pc so I will be sure to do that. …- Written by Jill I from Smyrna

Was Skeptical.!
I usually buy based on Reviews, and this shell had a minimum review, I wasn't sure but I desired to take a chance. I bough the cle ar shell, and I was really impressed. it gives more personality to my new MacBook Pro, and it safe. The Laptop still looking thin.
I'm a person who appreciates small details, and i'm honestly recommend this shell if you really wants to protect your investment.

Pricey ...but worth it.
This case does exactly what is suppose to do. I carry my MBP (15 in) to school and back, daily. (Professor) While there are some scratches on my Speck case...my MBP looks brand new...after 2 years.
The clear case shows my sleek, beautifully crafted Apple and I really like it.

Doesn't last long for $50
I bought this case in late November and I really loved how it looked and protected my computer. This was the first case I have eve r purchased so maybe it is an industry standard that cases last less than 6 months, because the corners are cracking off and thus providing less protection. I have both types of cases on my MBP Retina and MacBook Air and both fit fine together. The neoprene is more protective for impacts such as dropping but the Speck Smartshell is better for scratches. Depends on which is more problematical for the way you use your devices. …

Does the smartshell case on the macbook lead to the macbook overheating and/or prevent it from cooling if it starts to overheat??

It doesn't directly lead to overheating.. I'm still able to use it on a day-to-day basis with no pro blems.. Its just that theres an increase CHANCE of it heating up (not overheating) if you do something intensive...
In terms of cooling.. as it is plastic if the laptop is hot it will take longer to cool down as plastic retains heat.. but it will cool overtime.. …- Answered by Alvi C
