Overview
LaCie's Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt Series drive ensures that your projects aren't delayed by external drive/computer incompatibility. With both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports, the Rugged is a perfect match for your Mac and PC. And because USB 3.0 is backwards compatible, you can connect it to any standard computer on the planet. The Rugged is also fully bus-powered through the included USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt cables.
No-compromise performance
Get super-fast transfer speeds on Mac and PC thanks to the USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt ports. Thanks to its SSD design, the Rugged delivers up to 380 MB/s—the fastest fastest bus-powered product available. That's nearly five times better than FireWire 800. Back up and transfer mountains of data in a fraction of the time. Experience noticeably more responsive photo library browsing.
All-points data protection
The Rugged is MIL-compliant for superior data protection from accidental drops up to 4 feet (1.2 meters). Whether it falls off your desk or out your jacket pocket, you can be confident that your data is still accessible. This SSD version goes a step further for the ultimate in resilience against vibration and shock. It's tough enough to be shipped for reliable delivery to clients or partners. Included software even protects your files from prying eyes with AES 256-bit encryption.

Works Great
This is noticeably faster than any of the portable drives I've previously used. The read and write speeds are fantastic - the comb ination of SSD and Thunderbolt is a marvel. In terms of capacity I actually wanted 500GB, but 256GB will do for now. The drive is excellent quality, and I really like the rugged tough design. Very pleased with it overall. …

Great item
I use several of these drives to edit in the field. I work with a video producer who uses HD cam captures direct to drive. In the field I take a MacBook Pro and simply copy the footage across from HD cam to the LaCie. That frees up space on HD cam, and allows me to prepare the daily footage on my laptop. By the time were ready to go home, the footage is already prepared in a rough edit, and we can watch the daily cuts before we leave for the day. …
