HIPKEY IS A REVOLUTIONARY PRODUCT THAT LETS YOU KEEP TRACK OF YOUR IPHONE OR IPAD AND OTHER THINGS OR PEOPLE YOU LOVE
It is human nature to be forgetful, to be distracted, to be careless. Especially in stressful situations. That's how we lose or forget things. Imagine leaving behind your iPhone. What a catastrophe! hipKey solves this problem. You'd be lost without it.
Hipkey is ultimately an advanced wireless proximity accessory that will establish a permanent low power connection to your iPhone or iPad. If you keep hipKey on you, it will always help you not to forget your iPhone or iPad. However hipKey comes with many other features. E.g. use hipKey to keep your running child in range or to protect your camera bag when your hipKey is placed inside it. Or what about monitoring a sleeping child or using hipKey as a door alarm with its motion sensor. The possibilities are endless.
NB: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. …

Works as described but many false alarms
Just received today, and most everything works as described except I am experiencing many false alarms and only when the hipkey an Just received today, and most everything works as described except I am experiencing many false alarms and only when the hipkey and the iphone are in my pocket (hipkey in my front pant pocket and iphone in the back, to be more precise.) As I am walking or even driving in my vehicle, the alarm mode (both phone and hipkey) sounds and silences on its own. Seems something is causing interference or a lost BT signal. So far, I'm not thrilled. …

I've had this about 8 months and my take is mixed. Rarely connects to your bluetooth automatically, always gonna do it manually. W I've had this about 8 months and my take is mixed. Rarely connects to your bluetooth automatically, always gonna do it manually. When I do it manually it still doesn't always work. When it works it does its job. There are some false alarms that happen more than it should. Randomly somewhere and the alarm goes off. Is this a horrible product? No. Is it a great product? No. If this were a $20 dollar item I'd be more okay with its flaws but for $60? Not worth it. …

electronic snake oil - great promise - disappointing in the real world
-forget about using this to prevent theft - far too unreliable
-it actually bills itself as a child monitor and has a dedicated m -forget about using this to prevent theft - far too unreliable
-it actually bills itself as a child monitor and has a dedicated mode for this - no fit parent would rely on this device
-as a device to help you remember something - without needing 100% reliability is the only reasonable use I can see
-I have had this device for a week - never once did it provide any benefit - but it causes numerous irritations every day
-extremely misleading for this device to claim it has a "proximity" alarm - it has no idea where it is - there is no GPS like an iPhone - all it can do is monitor the strength of its wireless bluetooth connection to your phone. Bluetooth operates on 2.4GHz frequency - a free to use without license frequency that is crammed with every conceivable wireless device around, and also interfered with by common items like microwave ovens... the strength of a 2.4 GHz signal is highly variable. I have had this device tell me it lost connection at normal sensitivity when my iPhone 5 was less than a foot away - both together in the car. Even when having perfect line of sight in the wide open outdoors, this device connects and disconnects at normal sensitivity from just 15 feet away. Forget about using this device to monitor your stuff in a coffee shop when you step into the bathroom
-motion sensor mode - here is something - that IF -and a BIG IF - if the signal connection was more reliable - could be used instead of the highly variable "proximity" mode. Problem is - way too sensitive. The slightest vibration once activated - and it goes off. No sensitivity setting. No ability to say after 3 bumps in 5 seconds - then set off motion alarm. Nope. Nothing but an avalanche of false alarms from excessive sensitivity.
-if you expect the "alarm" built into the device to act as a deterrent forget that - unless in a perfectly quiet setting, there is no chance anyone - not even the thief will even hear the alarm - and if they do - all the have to do is press the most obvious of two buttons on the device and it will shut off
-I was excited by the apparent potential of this product when I read the marketing - but now I am simply disgusted - as a toy to amuse yourself - or for a supplemental warning device that can NOT be relied upon - if that is all you expect - and you simply love gadgets - just for the sake of having another gadget .... nah - even not then... there are much better devices to spend your money on ... my pebble smartwatch can alert me when it loses connection to my phone - and can make my phone vibrate plus do a lot of other things - I can't think of any reason to reasonably recommend this device
-the company claims they won a red dot design award - which demonstrates that the red dot design award is a worthless sham - probably simply handed out based on the product claims - and not any real world testing - yes many trade show awards are that kind of a sham …

Constant false alarms makes it unusable
I bought this over a year ago and just found it again after giving up on it. I checked to see if there was an update to the app re I bought this over a year ago and just found it again after giving up on it. I checked to see if there was an update to the app recently. Nope, not since October. There are so many embarrassing false alarms that it is unusable. I've played with all the settings to no avail. I'm surprised this product is still in the Apple Store because it is not reliable. It is nicely designed and well made and looks good, if only it worked well. …
