Can't fault it...
Can't fault it... Its much thiner than some of the others I've tried. It also is much faster than a USB2 alternative... about 120M B/sec on a Mac Pro Retina, which is perfect for backups and the odd large file...
The price is very reasonable too. …- Written by Dominic G from FARNHAM

Very fast and doesn't false advertise
Faster than my Western Digital passport USB 3.0. Also, this is the first hard drive I've ever owned that actually has the capacity it says. (999.4 GB storage.) …

Bus-powered G-Drives are all alike, and that's not good
I've had several bus-powered G-Drives, and I was hoping that this one would be an exception. No dice. Other reviewers have comment ed about poor performance, disk crashes, etc. Luckily, I haven't (yet) had that problem. The chronic issue with these bus-powered drives is "bootability". That is, when you start up your Mac, you can never really know if the drive will be recognized. This in turn, requires you to try all sorts of tactics, e.g., shutting down, disconnecting the drive, starting up, then re-connecting the drive, etc. Utterly unreliable. I simply cannot believe that G-Tech won't (or can't) resolve this persistent issue. I have several other portable bus-powered drives, ioSafe for example, and I've never had this annoying issue with them, only G-Drives. Caveat emptor. …

Great storage
It comes with about 990G of storage, which is fantastic compared to some other HDDs I have had. The design is also very slim and good looking.
The actual only complaint I have is that the aluminum is not as smooth and I had imagined. It is not really nice to feel and I warn you to not put your nails on it! Worse than nails on a chalkboard for me. Obvious this is mundane, but it meant something to me.
I would recommend this to a friend. …- Written by Magnus P from Northvale
