Useless for Retina models
Had the previous edition of this case for my 15" Macbook Pro and figured it would be the same, snug fit with the 15" MBP Retina -- Had the previous edition of this case for my 15" Macbook Pro and figured it would be the same, snug fit with the 15" MBP Retina -- which it super isn't. This leaves so much jostle room with my MBP Retina inside as to be practically useless -- I might as well just throw this $2300 computer into my bookbag, since this provides no added bump protection whatsoever. Very disappointed. …

Tough protection, solid looks; can't access ports
This is a very good looking, rugged case that also has excellent water protection. The zipper can be a little hard to close/open s This is a very good looking, rugged case that also has excellent water protection. The zipper can be a little hard to close/open sometimes because of the water seal, but it's not cumbersome and makes sense. The interior material seems to be soft enough that it won't scratch the macbook, while at the same time offers decent airflow and shouldn't overheat the macbook. The included tie-down strap inside is also nice and should keep your macbook from falling out should you have accidentally left it unzipped or something along those lines.
Really, the only downside is that the macbook sits low inside, which means if you have any type of thunderbolt cable or a usb drive that's bigger than say the Logitech Unifying Receiver (this fits inside the case just fine) it means you either can't use it while this macbook is in the case or that the macbook will sit at an angle, resting on whatever you have plugged in to it. If that's not a problem for you, though, then this is a very nice and versatile case. …

Simple and sturdy case

The fit is not snug, but acceptable - the laptop has about a 1/2 inch to move on all sides. For travel there is a secure middle velco strap that works to keep the laptop from sliding. You can definitely use the laptop in the case, but not if you need to use any of the ports. It has kept my MBP dust-free and scratch-free for a few months now with no problems. My only complaints are that the zippers could be a little smoother. They are sturdy but not as smooth as the traditional incase cases. Also I wish there was one specifically made for the retina display model so it could be as small as possible. Overall, it is a sturdy case that will protect your laptop, and is especially good for traveling. …

Great design + functional (disagree with "useless for retina models")
This is a very functional product. I rarely write reviews but I almost didn't buy this bag because of the negative review entitled This is a very functional product. I rarely write reviews but I almost didn't buy this bag because of the negative review entitled "Useless for Retina Models". I would like to refute this review. I am a designer and I fully appreciate the qualities of this sleeve. It is not as snug as it could be but it is highly functional and has a velcro strap. The power plug doesn't work when the computer is sitting in the open sleeve. It is light weight and easy to carry and certainly provides substantial protection. The zipper system is excellent and seemingly water resistant. I bought another bag at the same time and took that one back. This one is great! …

The off One thrilling albeit pulse pounding moment, occurred while being stopped by a N. Y. State Police patrol car back in 1985. The officer just needed to know more about my roof mounted bicycle rack. It was a Thule "salesman's sample" that got me pulled over. Sleek, well made, and brand new on top of my Saab. No ticket was written, how cool was that?!? We waxed on regarding the construction and quality built design.
So, I am wholly impressed by this sturdy sleeve! It's the perfect transport cover. …

will the case allow the MBP to breathe, or does it restrict the air flow from the vents?

Yes, the looser fit allows the vents to breathe while you're using it in-case. The molded indentati Yes, the looser fit allows the vents to breathe while you're using it in-case. The molded indentations at the top and bottom of the case also effectively lifts the MBP up off the bottom surface when you are working in-case, allowing further airflow and heat dispersion underneath the middle of the computer. …
