I was wondering about purchasing the $400 UE 9000 bluetooth variety but was put off by weight and the inability to test them in-st ore (this may change and once I test them I still might get them...).

I settled for the UE 4000 for their light weight and attractive, Star-Trek-ish yet not overly gearish design. I particularly like the clean design lines and the surprisingly solid build at this price point. Also, the soft pouch is of excellent good quality.

In short, I was very surprised with the feel of the entire package - you will not be under the impression you paid an entry-level price for an entry-level product, but rather a premium-feel, handsome pair of headphones.

I tested the headphones on classical, dance/electro and latin music, and I must say I was quite taken by the sound quality. Great depth, no distortion including at high volume (at max, and they do get loud), with more oomph in in the bass which I tend to like. The memory foam earpads are comfortable with a good fit without the usual squeeze that can be hot/uncomfortable after prolonged use with other makes and form factors.

I also used them instead of airline-supplied noise-cancelling Bose headphones because I found mine more comfortable, equally noise-blocking (though without active noise cancellation, the trade-off being their lightness & no need to charge the power that noise-cancelling requires). I watched the entire movie on the plane for the full 2 hours without any distortion or discomfort.

The headphones work with the iPhone 5 as well, supporting all functions including voice commands, Siri, and all voice-feedback applications such as navigation directions in Maps (as well as in third-party maps with turn-by-turn navigation).

In all, probably the best <100$ on-ear headphones that money can buy. Highly recommended.

After reading about the release of Logitech's UE line of headphones I was eager to try the out. I went to the apple store and gave them a listen along with the p3 by b&w and Inspiration by Monster Cable, and I have to say compared to the p3 and Inspiration the UE 4000 definitely has a clearer and more natural sound to them. The inspiration was bass heavy, and the p3 was muffled. Logitech and UE definitely paid attention when they created the UE 4000 because first off they are COMFORTABLE for headphones that rest on your ears these feels so soft. Audio reproduction is definitely flat and natural which allows all frequencies to have equal play at having their shining moments in the music. If you are looking in the 100 dollar range of headphones I wouldn't definitely recommend checking out the UE 4000
