    Audio Nerdom!

    • Written by from Eagle River

I just got my Libratone Zipp last night and I have to say that I am extremely impressed with it. Although it is a little pricey, the sound it produces can easily sooth your “Empty Wallet Blues.” I am an audio engineer/audiophile and had been looking for a good portable airplay capable speaker and love the airplay and "PlayDirect" features. When airplay first emerged, I was skeptical of the quality of sound it'd produce, but am a skeptic no more. Also as an audio nerd, I measured the frequency response, and was impressed to find that for the most part it was a pretty flat response (except for the expected boost in the lows). The application they designed for the speaker also allows the user to set the speaker to different preset modes like "Shelf" mode where you can set the speaker to stop playing in its default 360 degree mode. All in all, the speaker has tickled all of my audio nerd fantasies, hi-fi wireless sound quality, sleek and small look with a big sound, and audio controls for the speaker. I would and will purchase more Libratone speakers, and so should you. More

Beautiful design and amazing sound - really great speaker

    • Written by from Dallas

I didn't want to spend $400 on a speaker. However, I decided to give the Libratone Zipp a try after being disappointed by the sound of a few smaller bluetooth models. I'll keep this simple - it's beautiful, portable and sounds amazing. It produces much larger sound than it's size indicates. I read review after review after review and then decided to just try it out for myself. Amazing. Yes, there are bugs in the Airplay technology that need to be addressed. I'm not sure if it's the iPhone5 or the speaker itself which drops the signal. At any rate it's not that big of a deal - with the push of a button the connection is back. Be very alert when you read the reviews put out by some of the big tech websites. Some of them gave the Zipp a horrible review - and then gave glorious reviews to other speakers. But guess who the major advertisers on their website were........ More

    Libratone expensive but impressive

    • Written by from Surry hills

Look it's not cheap, but it does everything pretty well, portable speaker, airplay speaker, laptop speaker all in one.

The 1st one I got from the apple store wouldn't stay on the wifi network and dropped off every few minutes and had a really bad delay in sound when using it as an airplay speaker so took it back the next day and this one has worked perfectly.

Great sound, easy set up, and multiple connection methods including cable, airplay via wifi and direct connect airplay.

Sound is pretty good for a portable, nice bass and not the tinny noise you expect from other portable models. Only issues are it is not quite loud enough (I like to play it LOUD) and if you have wifi fluctuation it obviously causes drop outs.

It is a little larger than you'd probably expect but it is portable and not a pain to lug around.

    AND it looks awesome!
