Overview
The ultra-portable PROMISE Pegasus J2 SSD Thunderbolt Storage Solution can deliver up to 750 MB/s* of performance, yet it's small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or a pocket. Offering a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage, it lets creative professionals harness high bandwidth to transfer, playback, or edit media directly from the Pegasus J2 anywhere.
Massive performance leap for portable storage
Packing an amazing amount of performance, this compact solution takes full advantage of Thunderbolt technology. It can achieve an astonishing 550 MB/s write performance and 750 MB/s* read performance while connected to an external A/C power source.
Thunderbolt technology
This new, high-speed, dual-protocol I/O technology is designed for performance, simplicity, and flexibility. It's capable of delivering a blistering two channels of 10 Gbit/s (1.25GB/s) per port of performance, while integrating the display protocol. For instance, you can transfer a 5.4GB file to the Pegasus R6 in less than 15 seconds. This also means you're free to use a single cable for data transmission and video output.
Ultra-portable for content creators on-the-go
Weighing only 120 grams and measuring roughly about the size of a deck of cards, the Pegasus J2 fits in the palm of your hand, your pocket, backpack, or sling bag. It's ideal for on-location editing or other demanding creative projects.
Power adapter optional
You're free to power the Pegasus J2 from an A/C source or from the Thunderbolt port of your Mac. While an external A/C power source delivers maximum performance, you can still achieve up to 110 MB/s writes and 270 MB/s reads when using bus power.

Would this work well as a storage device for all of my downloaded movies, iTunes and photo storage. Want to have access across wireless network.
- Asked by Steven H B from Live Oak
- Oct 9, 2012
Answer
This device is probably an overkill for your purpose. It was built for speed which will be negated b y your wireless network. It does not offer enough capacity to be a media storage device. It requires a Mac computer with Thunderbolt port to share it across a network.
If I may suggest, look for a NAS (Network Attached Storage). …- Answered by Maxim D from New York
