The LaCie RuggedKey flash drive features tough rubber construction that helps it withstand accidental drops from heights far above what you'd encounter on your way to the office. That means ultimate protection for your key—and your data.
Withstands everyday disasters
Heat and cold resistance protect you in the most extreme of climates. Plus the RuggedKey is IP-54 certified for resistance to damage from dust and water projection.
Full-throttle transfer speeds
The USB 3.0 interface delivers speeds up to 150MB/s for blazing-fast file transfers that are dramatically faster than USB 2.0. But since the interface is backward compatible with USB 2.0, there's never any worry about connectivity.
Ultra-secure AES 256-bit encryption protects your data from the inside—complementing the RuggedKey's tough exterior. It lets you easily create a password-protected area on the key to securely store all of your confidential information.
Secure cloud storage
LaCie makes it easy to integrate Wuala secure cloud storage into your RuggedKey, so it's a snap to store and share your files, photos or videos. You get a year of one-to-one storage ratio with Wuala (for example, a 16GB RuggedKey comes with 16GB of Wuala Secure Cloud Storage). That means you can back up your key's entire contents or double your storage capacity. Even access your files on the go with Wuala Mobile.

A durable USB key
I have lost data on a thumb drive before purely from age and dust getting into the device. After buying the Rugged Key I hope all I have lost data on a thumb drive before purely from age and dust getting into the device. After buying the Rugged Key I hope all of those experiences are gone. The device has a rubber casing all around, protecting it from humidity, dust and other elements. I also like to be able to carry this on my keychain, so I'm never searching for it. …

ZERO STARS: Product FAILURE
For 6 weeks, my Rugged Key was a 5-star performer. I would have written a glowing review like many others have done here. I loved For 6 weeks, my Rugged Key was a 5-star performer. I would have written a glowing review like many others have done here. I loved it.
Then it simply failed. It self-dismounted off my desktop and never came back. Dead. Bricked. Now, like a substantial number of folks who had the same experience, I'm giving it zero stars if the site will let me.
Never had a USB drive fail. Ever. Never had any LaCie product (all excellent) fail before.
Word of advice about this USB drive, that I never thought would be necessary: BACK IT UP. Read the 1-star reviews before you plunk your cash down.
If you do buy, SAVE THE PACKAGING, because that's WHERE THE SERIAL NUMBER IS. And LaCie support has the nerve to ask for it. I didn't save mine. Who keeps packaging for a USB drive? And how would you know which drive goes which packaging if you buy more than one, as I did?
Long story short, after hemming and hawing they sent me a RECONDITIONED unit. So I'll ask for my money back.
Wish me luck. Hope yours is better. …
