Ratings & Reviews

  • Best of the $199 headphones.

    5.0 out of 5 stars

For the past month I've been on a mission to find the best pair of headphones under $200. I've tried the Bose OEI2, the Harman Kar don CL's and the Beats Solo. As a previous owner of the P5's I couldn't wait to give these a try.

I'm at about 8 hours of listening, and they definitely need a bit of a burn-in, but once they opened up I was amazed at the quality.

It seems to be more and more difficult to find headphones that do not "color" frequencies (The beats do this terribly. Far too much bass. Gives me a headache.) Even the HKCL's did this. I'm glad that B&W do their best to deliver the music as naturally as possible without adding harsh treble or pumped up bass. The music the P3's deliver is exceptional. Even the midrange (which is the most difficult frequency to deliver in headphones) is exceptional.

The build quality is on-par with the audio quality. Amazing. They fit well, look great, and the case (although a bit plasticy and not "high end") will certainly keep them safe. They're easily portable (much more so than the HKCL's) and seem to be built to last.

Without a doubt these are the best $199 headphones I've ever owned.

  • Beautiful Sound and Design

    5.0 out of 5 stars

This was my first purchase of high-end headphones, and I could not be happier with my decision. After testing out Harmon Kardon, B ose, and Beats, the Bowers & Wilkins P3 had the perfect mix of highs, mids, and lows. It is not overpowering with bass like the Beats Solo HD. I listen to a variety of music spanning from Jazz to Progressive House, and these headphones fit the bill wonderfully. Futhermore, these headphones are portable and incredibly comfortable. Mixed with elegant looks and durable construction, the B&W P3 was the perfect combination of sound and estethics. I highly recommend these headphones to anyone looking to truly appreciate quality audio.

  • Fabulous

    5.0 out of 5 stars

In the past 2 months I have tried so many headphones it makes my head spin. On ear, over the ear, open, closed, it's rediculous ho w many there are and all fail at some measure. Uncomfortable, no highs, too much base, no mids, it goes on and on. The P3 get its right at every turn. Comfort, oustanding definition ( I found the base a bit strong but easy to adjust for). Rich full sound, controls and mic on cord, compact and sturdy. I do not think for portbale use there is another product even close.
You owe iot to yourself to at least try these beauties!

The sound is very balance and natural sounding. You have to break them in like a pair of shoes for optimum sound. You can hear the depths of songs a lot better than regular Apple earbuds. You won't want to go back to your little earbuds! The bass is just the right amount. The headphones are really tight on your head and can leak sound if you go over 50% of your sound since fabric is used. It doesn't do well in terms of noise canceling. It's best if you're listening indoors or in a place where it's near quiet. It travels well.

  • Not the Best for $200

    3.0 out of 5 stars

    Pros - style, comfort
    Cons - Sound quality

    Other headphones compared to:

Bowers and Wilkins P5 - better HIs and Lows, more defined, more efficient, less comfortable if you wear glasses cost $100 more than P3

*Sennheiser HD25-1 - better HIs and Lows, more defined, more efficient, more secure, less comfortable if you wear glasses ... one of the 2 best $200 headphones

*V-Moda M80 - better His and Lows, more defined, more efficient, very tough, customizable, less comfortable if you wear glasses ... The other best of the best $200 headphones

Soul by Ludacris Sl150 - inferior in almost every way but one of the best "celebrity" headphones for under$200

  • I like it better than P5

    4.0 out of 5 stars

First of all, I want to say I'm wearing glasses. I'm sure that all of you who wear glasses think again before you buy 'on ear' hea dphones. Yup, I tried my friend's P5 for about an hour and it was total disappointment. I liked the sounds of course but my back of the ears hurt like heck! I just received my P3 today and unlike P5, it is super comfortable. Of course P5 has a better sound (P3 has a bit of foggy sound and I think its because of their pads), but it is so much more comfortable, lighter. Not as luxury as P5 but it still looks very luxurious.
