Will this device continue to work if I lose all network connectivity? Examples, in a gym that does not have signal or WiFi or on a remote ride.
- Asked by Fabert D from Burke
- Mar 30, 2013
Answer
Hi Fabert,
As far as I know Bluetooth connectivity has nothing to do with WiFi or cell signal. The connection is between the two devices and will remain unless you turn the devices off or remove the connection.
The miCoach Mobile App only needs WiFi or cell data coverage for downloading the App, Login/Registering and Syncing the workouts to the miCoach website.
During the workout the App simply uses the settings which have been downloaded to the iPhone/iPod to make sure the workout data stays personalized for you.
If you are outside then the device uses GPS to record things like distance, pace and speed. GPS is also independent of WiFi and cell data coverage. The route will simply be calculated at the end once you have synced.
As with most smartphones the iPhone uses A-GPS so this means that if you have WiFi and data services turned off then the GPS data may suffer.
Hope this helps answer your questions.
Cheers,

Is it waterproof? Can I use to swin?
- Asked by Luciano Oliveira S from Vinhedo
- Mar 26, 2013
Answer
Hi Luciano,
Easiest answer to this is no - it most definitely can't be used for swimming.
The adidas miCoach website says: "The Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) is water resistant up to 1 m (or about 3 ft). However, the HRM will not work underwater, and it's advised that you don't immerse it in water."
With all devices that say 1m water resistant this basically means that they are splash proof.
Normally to swim with a product it should be at least 10m water resistant and some people even say 50m water resistant as it's not the depth but the water pressure that is important and if something is moving then the pressure is higher.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,

Is the belt water proof can it be used by swimmers?
- Asked by A G
- Dec 8, 2012
Answer
Hi A G,
the HRM is 1 meter water resistant - this basically means that it's splash proof and it is not recommended that the product be submerged in water.
Besides the above fact - Bluetooth Smart works across a smaller range than previous versions of Bluetooth. This means that you would probably also have to take your iPhone 4S or 5 with you and wear it somewhere on your body while swimming and I definitely wouldn't recommend this.
In short I would say that as it is swimming is not an option.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Is this the new HRM that supports Bluetooth 4.0?
- Asked by Brano T from Trenton
- Nov 13, 2012
Answer
Hi Brano,
This is the HRM that works with Bluetooth 4.0 - or Bluetooth Smart/Bluetooth Low Energy as it's also called.
If you have the product then you just need the miCoach App 2.1.1 or newer. When you have Bluettooth turned on, the App will search for and connect with the HRM.
The other HRM from miCoach is ANT+ based (this is sold with a CONNECT dongle). You can easily tell the difference as the adidas logos are a different colour.
Green for the new BTLE HRM and White for the older ANT+ device.
Hope this helps.

- Nov 5, 2012
Best Answer
Hey Jason,
as I am working with adidas I can give you a clear answer to your question.
a) iPhone 4S, iPhone5: You should buy the new adidas Bluetooth HRM. Since iPhone 4S Bluetooth Low Engergy (BTLE) is supported.
b ) iPhone 4 or less: You should buy the classic bundle which includes an ANT+ dongle. It works with IOS 6.0.1
The problem right now is that the apple store is not showing the ANT+ HRM b) on sale. But you will be able to purchase it directly via the adidas online shop or contact apple store. …More- Answered by Burkhard D from Herzogenaurach
