Great For New Drivers
This device is incredible. My teenage sister had a major speeding problem. My parents installed a PocketFinder in her car, and set the speed alert to 65mph. They received a text message as soon as she exceeded the speed limit which allowed them to monitor her driving, even when they weren't in the car with her.
My sister's driving habits immediately improved and my parents know she's driving under control and within the speed limit. Parents of teenage drivers will love these devices. …- Written by Gregory H from Irvine

Great idea!
Best overall deal I have found, after trying the beta app for the iPhone I've been waiting for this to come out to put on my hot r od so I can keep tabs on it all the time! The speed and zone alert is a really great feature as well, the accuracy on the phone alone was great (within a few feet of where I was standing) and it'll be nice to see not only where my car is-but where it has been. …

Best Ever!!
Best money I have spent on my children. My teenagers know that I know exactly where they are, how they got there and how fast they are/were driving. This allows them to "Blame me" when they resist peer pressure to do something I wouldn't like. Texts me when they exceed the speed I define...only happened once since I installed! Maintains comprehensive history of routes taken with speeds/locations updated every 60 seconds. Super easy to install device and load app! Would be a deal at twice the price. …

Great idea...poor execution...software not robust
Works great when it works. I have experienced times where locates are delayed for an hour or so and that is very disconcerting sin ce we are using it for peace of mind with a loved one. Software is not fully mature and can get broken from the user interface requiring the "tech team' to fix it which can be an iterative process. Customer service agents are great, but they basically forward emails to the developers. Odometer, GPS, and cell phone indicators are broken on both the web based and app software and should either be fixed or deleted. It seems they just cant get the user interface right to make it a top notch utility. …

where on a car is it installed? is the device hard wired if so how does that work?
- Asked by Wanda H from Red Boiling Springs
- Aug 27, 2012
Best Answer
Yes, the device is hard wired. One wire for power and the other ground. Depending on what you are co nnecting to, the device is connected by clamping the wire to another wire or attaching directly to the battery with the lug nut. A nice option is that you can install the device anywhere in the car that you can access an "always on" or constant powered wire. Most customers connect the device right to the battery or fuse box, others connect it to an always powered wire in the dashboard or back by a taillight in the trunk.
Two considerations that lead to a successful installation are:
1. Red wire is connected to a power source that is always powered. You don't need to worry about the device draining your battery because it has a motion sensor in it and only draws 3 to 4 milliamps of power when not moving.
2. Green and Amber lights turn solid. When you first connect the device to power you will see two lights. Both should be flashing. Green represents GPS connection and Amber represents wireless connection with the network. Point the GPS antenna side of the device up towards the sky so that it can connect with the GPS satellite network.
Common installation locations are:
> In the trunk pointed out the taillight
> In the engine compartment pointed out the headlight
> In the dashboard as close to the windshield as possible
If the vehicle looses power, the device has an internal battery that will allow it to continue to locate for approximately 4 hours and you can have it notify you when the internal battery begins to run low. …- Answered by David M from Mission Viejo

I want know if this device will work in the Colombian road?
- Asked by Luis O from Coral Springs
- Dec 25, 2012
Answer
The device will work in Columbia as long as there is cellular connectivity in the area where you're using the device. A good rule of thumb is that if a cell phone is able to send a text message, then the device should work. The monthly service fee for Columbia is $29.95 per month. …

can it work without the monthly fee.? For use outside United States
- Asked by Tatiana C from Weston
- Sep 10, 2012
Answer
The device cannot operate without a monthly service fee because it uses a cellular network to transm it the GPS way-points. Think of it like a mini cell-phone. However, unlike a cell phone, PocketFinder doesn't require a service contract, so you can keep the device de-activated and only turn on your account when you need to access the location information. You'll still be billed for the month of service, but you don't have to keep the device turned on all the time.
PocketFinder does work outside of the US, but you'll need to notify customer service that you need international service. The fee for international service is higher than the standard monthly fee. …- Answered by Gregory H from Irvine
