Can the PocketFinder be used indoors? Will it locate a person inside of a building?
- Asked by Laurel S
- Mar 20, 2012
Answer
The answer is, it depends. In order for GPS to work, PocketFinder needs to be able to see the sky. So the more windows a structure has, the more likely the device will locate indoors. For instance, my device works well in my house, but I have a lot of windows. If, however, you're in a movie theater or indoor mall, it you might have more trouble receiving a locate.
Also keep in mind that PocketFinder needs cell signal as well, so if you can't send a text message with your phone, then the device probably won't be able to transmit the GPS location. …More- Answered by Gregory H from Irvine

what is the monthly fee?
- Asked by Rickie S from Wheelwright
- Oct 24, 2011
Best Answer
Standard monthly service fee for U.S. and Canada is $12.95 a month.
International roaming service fee covers the entire GSM world and is $29.95 a month.
Each PocketFinder comes with two free standard months of service. If adding International during one or both of these two months the fee is $17 which is the difference between international and standard rates. …More- Answered by David M from Mission Viejo

can i use it on an airplane in flight ?can be in worldwide?
- Asked by Fahmi M from Jeddah
- Dec 22, 2011
Answer
It is possible to take the device on a flight (to track your luggage, for example), however you must check with your airline carrier to make sure they will allow it.
Because the PocketFinder transmits information using the AT&T cellular network, the device must be shut down during flight. To do this, simply login to your account and click on the "Power" tab; you'll find an option for "Airplane" mode, which will enable you to turn off the device for a set period of time. Make sure to shut the device down for long enough to allow for potential flight delays. …More- Answered by Gregory H from Irvine

My husband has advanced alzheimer's. It is difficult to keep up with him while shopping. Would this device work in malls, large stores, etc.?
- Asked by Barbara G from Mckinney
- May 14, 2012
Answer
The device can provide indoor locations, but the accuracy may be limited. The PocketFinder works best in an outdoor environment because it uses GPS to get device location. When the PocketFinder is indoors (like in a home or a shopping mall), it cannot use GPS, and must rely on Assisted GPS (or, “A-GPS”) to get a locate. A-GPS is not as accurate as GPS, and therefore the customer experience can be impacted. If you are using a PocketFinder indoors, you have to set your expectations accordingly.
That said, PocketFinder is the best personal GPS device on the market, so if any GPS product can help your husband it will likely be the PocketFinder. What I might suggest is that you give the PocketFinder a try. You can always return it if the technology isn’t fit for you. If you do buy a device, I would also recommend calling customer service and asking them to adjust the PocketFinder settings to give you maximum locatability in your area.

does the finder itself have an alarm when battery is low and if so can it be silenced?
- Asked by Pamela D from Erieville
- May 5, 2012
Answer
When the PocketFinder is running low on battery, it will send a text message or email to a designated contact, alerting them of the low battery status. The device itself does not make any noise.
Each user can customize their account, so that the "low battery" alert will be sent when the device's battery falls below a predetermined percentage. For instance, if you'd like to receive a text message when the PocketFinder has 20% battery life left, you can do that; or, if you want to receive an email when the PocketFinder has 15% battery life remaining, you can do that too.
These are just two of the many ways you can customize your PocketFinder. …More- Answered by Gregory H from Irvine
